Excellent performance and a very entertaining festive treat. We played some wonderful stuff at times, especially the build up to Kanes 2nd. Kane is just magnificent but must say Dier, Vertonghen and Rose were excellent today. Dele and Eriksen both had very good spells in the game and Son scored a beauty and got an assist too. The two goals we conceded were irrating to say the least and Lloris really needs to buck his ideas up, every game at the moment he looks like he has a mistake in him. Swansea away next COYS
Kane says he asked his team mates to help him get that little record...says he's in the best form of his life and feels at his strongest. Going to be a massive 2018 for him
Dier had some sublime touches, Dele & Eriksen were excellent pretty much throughout, but Verts was outstanding. Sonny really is Mr Perpetual Motion - and one of the first names on the teamsheet for me. Rose was better for sure, but still well short of his best. Dembele was struggling from minute 1 and as for Lloris...... I'll stand by my earlier comments: An accident waiting to happen at the moment!

Managed to watch most of the game save the opening 15 of the 2nd half so I missed goals 3 and 4. Delighted for Kane. Comfortably the best striker in the country and possibly in Europe, and he's one of our own. Is he now the greatest player of our PL history? Has he eclipsed the likes of Bale, Ginola, Klinsmann, King etc.? I'd say so. What a pleasure to finally see our front 4 play with the fluency and edge that they've had for the past 2 years but had largely deserted them this season. Dele with another top drawer performance and unless he did so a few times when I wasn't tuned in, I see this as non-coincidentally tied to a distinct lack of throwing himself to the deck in faux disgust at every semi-rough challenge. Didn't do it against Burnley either, and surprise surprise, he is much better playing the game upright with the ball at his feet. Eriksen finally put in a performance where he was the metronome of the operation. It has only taken 3 months but what a pleasure to see him hopefully back to his best and WHAT a delivery for Kane's first. Son once again industrious and full of running. Invaluable to this team at the moment. Back 3 were magnificent - Jan head and shoulders above the rest. Such a class act who remains, in my opinion, quietly better than Toby. He just gets less headlines because he joined us before we were 'glamorous' and has never so much as raised an eyebrow at signing a new contract. Aurier again grew into the game. Movement and positioning/awareness visibly improving. Still a few wobbly moments but I'm beginning to see why we signed him. The thing I like about Rose mk II is that I can brew a cup of tea every time he has to make a decision on the ball. Very thoughtful of him. Dembele looks broken. So sad to see. Like your favourite CD gets scratched and jerks at key moments. Really hope he can rediscover last season's form but this seems to be a physical issue rather than a mental one. You can see his brain knows exactly what it wants to do but his body is just lacking the sharpness to carry it out quickly enough. I actually thought Sissoko did very, very well when he came on. Never knew he could play one-touch football. Or football in general. Hugo remains an enigma. His shot-stopping and sweeping make him perfect for our style of play. but as others have already mentioned, the same old weaknesses come back to haunt us game after game. Pub-league distribution and worryingly weak wrists at the near post. It's fine at PL level but I fear for our CL campaign. Strikers of the caliber of Dybala and Higuain pick up on these weak spots and exploit them relentlessly.
To be honest if I was sat in his position, I wouldn't even consider any offers. Only time I'd start to consider offers is if the player started showing signs of wanting to leave. But at the moment he seems happy where he is, so I'm sure he will reject everything for now. Having said that, is there not a chance Kane will want to move for money and trophies in the future? Tottenham at the moment are not showing the signs that they can guarentee that for Kane. That's all I'm saying. He could well be happy to be a 1 club guy though. It's hard when Europes top clubs come in for you though.
I think he's an ideal PL-style striker. Which is why the player people compare him to the most is Shearer. Another who thrived in probably the most physical league in Europe. Sure, he could go to Spain or Germany and do really well, but I can't see him thriving playing somewhere he'll be blown up for a foul every time he leans a shoulder into his defender. Realistically, there are 5 teams in world football who could afford him. You, City, PSG, Barca and Real. Can't see Bayern spending that amount tbh. The new stadium will eventually guarantee regular wage hikes but you're 100% right - trophies are impossible to 'guarantee' unless he moves to PSG where there is no real competition. Most interviews he has ever given on the subject point to the fact that his ultimate dream is leading Spurs to a major trophy. We've seen stellar talent come and go at this club - Bale, Modric, Berbatov etc. but none have been academy products who have lived and breathed Spurs since the age of 10. I can see him staying for at least the next 2-3 years.
He seems to panic at times. Especially after he’s just ****ed up. And yes, his distribution- especially in panic mode, is crap! No way should he have been beaten by their first goal. Any top class keeper should save that, IMO. The second was a **** up in communication. I’m sure Kane would have cleared it if given the chance. But Lloris came for the original ball and didn’t clear it properly.
Gary Lineker The @BBCMOTD running order: Tot/Sou, Bou/WHU, Liv/Swa, ManU/Bur, Wat/Lei, Che/Bri, Hud/Sto, WBA/Everton. 8 games, 29 goals. A show as bright as Firmino’s teeth.
They shouldn't give the number of goals. Anyone not knowing today's scores will not need to bother with the last game.
It's an old wife's tale that PL referees are more lenient than European ones. Kane would still thrive in any league in Europe. Competition wise the PL is the toughest, as the gap between the top clubs and the bottom is a lot less than in say Spain, Germany or France. So I actually think Kane would score even more league goals if he played for Real, Bayern or PSG. Most of the teams in those divisions would be easy pickings for Kane. Yeah Kane is physical, but I think he's just strong and difficult to shrug off the ball. I wouldn't say he is doing anything that would get European referees giving fouls against him. He wouldn't be top goal scorer in the CL if he was. I don't actually think Spurs will sell anyways for the record, as there are no signs his head has been turned. But you never know when or if it will be.
Calling it. Harry is the best centre forward on planet earth right now. His finishing is just beyond exceptional. Really good attacking performance, Harry ruthless, Dele phenomenal, Eriksen creative and Sonny clinical. Dier also bloody superb. 5-2 flattered Southampton. Boom, bring on 2018.
Did they show that wonderful piece of skill by Dier in the first half. If it was by someone from the favoured clubs they would be showing it at least 20 times
Don't be daft - and they only showed the not-given penalty on Son at the end as a backdrop to Kane's pass!!
