My personal choice is Rafa (just as it was in the summer), and I believe that at present there would be a strong chance of attracting him come 1 February (unless he felt loyalty to MP such that he wouldn't want to follow him). But I'm not sure we can afford to wait that long.

If the takeover happens before the end of the window, Newcastle might just be able to strengthen enough to stay up. And no doubt Rafa would want to oversee that rather than join us. But a weak window sends Newcastle down, almost certainly. Even the promise of a big summer budget, from a post-window takeover, probably wouldn't stop Rafa from deciding against jumping ship.

 

Some of the manager suggestions makes me want to keep Pellegrino

For me.... I’d go for Sean Dyche personally. Although Burnley are doing very well, it seems only a matter of time until he goes onto a “bigger” club. He has passion and is a disciplinarian too, always has a game plan and is used to working within financial restrictions. I can’t see an Arsenal or Man Utd come calling for him from Burnley so why not us...?

After that.... it would be Rafa, I’ve long thought that he would fit us....
