looks like its not only the fans who are panicking... "So we acknowledge your support has already been utterly magnificent but we want your help just a bit more as we take on the blues of Reading and Portsmouth, in creating an atmosphere which really gets the season going..." What we will do is: - A two-for-one offer... so anybody buying a ticket for the Reading fixture will get a free ticket for the Portsmouth game (and that will include those who've already stumped up the cash)*. - Balloons ... yes balloons... we are going to hand out lots of colourful balloons and ticker tape at both games to get things looking the part... you know the drill! - Flags ... if you've got them, bring them, and we are asking our kind sponsors to allow the draping of flags over their prized logos - Noise... well that bit is up to you! http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2429641,00.html
Jesus. Balloons? We'll have squeaky foam tiger paws next The pressure's on vs Reading then, those supporters who have bought a ticket might not bother turning up for the Pompey game on a freebie if we produce a horror show
People would think this was great if it wasn't for the balloons. Why did they have to go and mention the balloons? There will be all sorts of nonsense about this sort of thing ruining football for the real fans now! Just ignore the balloons and read the rest, it seems like a good idea that should boost support a bit and maybe create a better atmosphere.
What they're telling us is that the atmosphere is **** and the team could be suffering as a result. So by giving out balloons and encouraging us to bring flags along to the game, the fans will get behind the team and the lads will perform better. The two for one thing is a good idea, it makes sense as we've started the season with poor gates, but the rest is just embarrassing.
Balloons!? We'll be getting the bubble machine out next! What is going on.
"- A two-for-one offer... so anybody buying a ticket for the Reading fixture will get a free ticket for the Portsmouth game (and that will include those who've already stumped up the cash)*. - 35000 at the Portsmouth fixture then? are we beginning to look like Stockport County?
I d like to suggest an amnesty to all those who have been wrongly banned by Downs/Cooper. I despair. The club created the Cooperian Morgue, so its up to those who are left to sort it out? Maybe the next move is a drum and music after goals!!! Anyone want to buy a season pass if we drop to that. York City looks good for real football!!!!!!!!!!
I stand by the fact that if the team were playing well then the atmosphere would be good. How can they expect us to be excited whilst we're losing at home to a side we should be destroying. It doesn't work both ways either. I think it's pathetic that grown men can't play to the best of their ability just because the crowd aren't singing.
Well done city, no problem with the balloons & ticker tape myself, they'll be thrown as the teams emerge from the tunnel, we won't be waving them about for 90 minutes will we? Not worth getting your fanny in a twist over, it might even look quite impressive. Good to see a relaxed approach on the displaying of flags aswell.
Agree with the above poster, this is a good idea and even though they've tried stunts like this a few times lately and it's not really affected the atmosphere or performance, you can't knock them for trying again. There seems to be a promise in the line "To all you season ticket holders, there will be an offering to you soon..." which suggests they want our patience with this and they'll have an offer for us before long. I'm surprised no one has picked up on the claim that they are talking to sponsors to try and allow flags over their signs. That's fantastic news to me, I don't care about the flags that much but the idea that commercialism and sponsorship comes after vociferous support is great.
