Liverpool v Swansea City Barclays Premier League Date - Boxing Day Kick off - 17:30 Venue - Anfield, Liverpool After Saturday's much improved performance against Crystal Palace, Swansea City under caretaker Manager, Leon Britton, next face free scoring Liverpool at Anfield. This will be another stern test for the Swans who really need to get something from the match. It will be interesting to see if Leon reverts to 3 Centre Backs a la Clement or whether he keeps faith with the formation that outplayed Palace for large parts of the game. Including the first match in January 1936, Swansea and Liverpool have met on 41 occasions, with 11 wins for Swansea, 22 wins for Liverpool and 8 draws. In the corresponding fixture last season, Swansea ran out 3-2 winners a victory that lifted themselves off the bottom of the Premier League table and dealt a huge blow to Liverpool's title hopes with a thrilling win at Anfield. Gylfi Sigurdsson scored from close range with 16 minutes left to give former Head Coach Paul Clement his first win as Swans boss and the club their first away league victory over the Reds. Roberto Firmino had struck twice to draw the hosts level after Fernando Llorente's two goals in four minutes after the break. Looking ahead to Tuesday evening, I've got a sneaky feeling that we will snatch a 2-1 victory - bloody hell, this Guinness tastes good.... Merry Christmas!
I expect a defeat, but our travelling fans will have some optimism after yesterday's encouraging performance. Good luck Leon
Under Clement this would have been 5 or 6 nil. I'm going for a 3-1 loss, with signs of continued improvement under Leon. I think Fulton must start instead of Carroll too.
Sky report made him man of the match although I did think he had a better game. My MOM was Mesa although dikkhead Dowie was critical of him in his commentary Be an interesting midfield if all of Leon, Fer, Ki, Routledge and Mesa are unfit.
Leon hasn't had enough time with the team to make much of a difference, so I can't se anything but a fairly easy win for Livrpool. Injuries are worrying too.
16:30 HERE'S HOW WE LINE UP THIS EVENING Swans: Lukasz Fabianski, Kyle Naughton, Alfie Mawson, Federico Fernandez (capt), Roque Mesa, Tom Carroll, Leroy Fer, Wayne Routledge, Jordan Ayew, Oli McBurnie. Subs: Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Mike van der Hoorn, Angel Rangel, Sam Clucas, Nathan Dyer, Renato Sanches, Tammy Abraham. Not an attacking line up really
McBurnie up front? **** you Yanks for selling Llorente Our squad is embarrassingly short of any depth or quality.
