Who has said we are still going for automatic promotion? Surely not Robinson. One of the players? We are going for mid-table. By 5pm this afternoon we may well be there - if not, I'm pretty sure Wigan will help us out.
Peterborough are now ahead, Rotherham are 2 up. If Portsmouth take the lead against AFC Wimbledon Charlton will be down to 9th place.
Pompey 1 up Peterborough 2 up Rotherham 2 up Charlton 3 down to 9th place if it stays this way. As it stands at half time... (W/D/L not updated for half time games but positions & points correct)
So Robinson is not going to try claiming we deserved more out of the game. Even he realises that would sound pretty lame given that we were 2-0 down in 11 minutes. Pompey still 1 up Posh 2 up Rotherham 3 up All of these teams in form and scoring freely. The rough and tumble of mid-season in League One does not seem to be bothering them unduly. More than can be said for our collection of crocks and kids.
I've read on a blog that Fans' Hero Karl Robinson did not go over to the remaining away supporters at Roots Hall after the full time whistle blew. Most or all of the crestfallen players apparently did so. What was wrong Gaffer? Why did you not front up to the most loyal of our fans - the same fans who have chanted your name for four months? Where were you while your players faced the music?
Hopefully the pikies will turn us over and we can get the protests back on track. "We want Roland out, we hate squirrel face, we just don't really want you here'.
100%, the protests have got to start again at the Gillingham game. There is nothing to lose now. The Apologists cannot claim that protests damage the team’s promotion chances After Millwall held top placed Wolves to a creditable 2-2 draw yesterday, Neil Harris called it “A proper Millwall performance” When was the last time we could say that about Robinson and a Charlton performance?
The sad thing from here was how utterly predictable it's all getting. I spent the entire second half following the Blackpool match waiting gor them to equalise, without much more than a sigh when it turned up. I wrote off yesterday as a 100% loss and the team had it confirmed in 12 minutes. Yes, we have a truely shocking injury list. But Robinson dropped KAG just when hit a bit of form. And he simply cannot adapt to changing circumstances. He claims he cannot wait until january. Why for gods sake? Roland has stated he wants out (though Robinson amusingly seems to have heard otherwise) so it seems a bit of a stretch to imagine he'll be funneling more money into a project he has all but abandoned. The same argument will probxbly be an umbrella for Robo. Why pay a P45 to sack a manager and go to the trouble of getting in a replacement when you simply don't care about the club? A new owner is becoming a must. If we get one after the window, they can at least plan for next season with a bit of breathing space, but with Roland..... it'll soon hit attendances as the magnitude of Rolands indifference hits home. He should wake up - the losses are accumulating and potential buyers may fail to see why they need to pick up tye bill for Rolands' folly.
players arriving at training ground right now!... well I would normally have started 15 minutes ago during a normal working day. How does it feel lads? Working normal hours!
The Gillingham home game could be the straw that breaks the fans' patience. (assuming we take a spanking from Wigan). After the usual first few minutes of anthem singing, home fans will expect a decent performance from the team. If our players start dithering and giving the ball away cheaply the crowd will be straight on their backs. Should we do enough to win against the mighty Gillingham FC there will be cheers and relief, but the visitors will surely be up for this match with the prospect of humiliating us and doing the double - as well as gaining points they sorely need. If Charlton lose, I cannot believe the incredibly tolerant (so far) fans in the North stand will take it. There must be a backlash.
