Amazing how blinkered some football supporters are when it comes to their own team. I've got nothing against Charlie Austin or Southampton for that matter, but it was very poor from him. Not sure why people would try to defend it as unintentional. There was plenty of time for him to see the goalkeeper had got the ball in his hands.
I think if you bothered to read the whole match thread you would see that very few people defended Charli’s actions. Those that did are entitled to their opinions as are you, but there is no need for you to come on here criticising Saints fans. Please run along now.
If you actually bothered to read this thread yourself, you would see I was only responding to the posters who responded to me, 1 of them in his usual ignorant manner. I never mentioned anything about Southampton fans in general, I'm sure most of you can see things objectively.
I timed it at about 1/3 of a second by doing it frame by frame. Scientifically thats not enough time for him to react to the keeper getting the ball. He simply went in hoping the keeper would fumble it and he could nick it not caring about what kind of damage he could do.
actually nobody is defending him and the only person you quoted said he could and should have avoided it. go home sir!
I think you are giving a lot of benefit of the doubt there. But fair enough if that's what you think.
Alot of our fanbase said it was a bloody dirty move by Austin in our match thread. But a Striker and Goalkeeper play the match at match speed, And they know the risks. The referee made a decison at the time, but FA made it more. I feel the retrospective action was suffice to the incident. Each person is entitled to their opinion, I don't know what you hoped to gain by coming on here claiming that our fan base are blinkered to our team, other than causing an argument.. Or debate... Whether you agree with it or not.
I'm not sure why you thought your two penn'orth of insipid observations would contribute anything to the thread?
I didn't generalise at your fanbase, just the posters who quoted me. Anyways have a good Christmas. As I'm off from this thread
