Nani got a similar one against arbeloa a few years back and Nigel De Jong get away with it (that clattenberg was pillorised) when he let him get away with it against Alonso (which i remember at the time all people including pool fans thought was a red).

But it wasn't, referee saw it and no red, Drogba's previous play acting backfired on him despite it being a definite red, again the referee used discretion rather than the laws of the game.

 

If memory serves me right, Drogba play acted worth this one too. Didn't he play dead? Certainly didn't need to lift and fold both knees mid air

He played dead after he'd been been Kung Fu kicked in the chest(or looking at the video he might have been genuinely hurt) but acting or not Evans got away with assault, IF Drogba had gone in with his head and took the kick would the referee just waved play on while Drogba's head was bleeding from the obvious huge cut that would have resulted?

 

Err, nope, but the fact Evans got a walkover shows the referee made his decision based on his own personal view rather than the black and white laws of association football.

 

Drogba & Evans were both ****s anyway. Both playing for ****ville clubs too. Only way it becomes a bigger ****fest is if Howard Webb was the referee!
