Is this the most boring Saints supporting season ever?

For Utd in 2005, read City in 2018...

That’s hardly fair, we deserved a point against City.

I mean that we finish the season at home to City.

    (Sorry, should have put 2018!)

We'll ruin their unbeaten record with a hat trick from our £25m January signing.

    If you’d said £15m I’d have agreed :)

I'd have probably gone for a thread title along the lines of 'Is this the worst season we have had for 10 years?'

Perhaps a decade would be stretching things out by a couple of years.

I was thinking that I’d like us to go out ASAP. But i don’t think it will help us “focus on the league”. MP2 has had all season to focus on the league and hasn’t got the hang of it. **** it, let’s do a Wigan!

With the recent results in mind you would think we would have more good losers, they have had plenty of practice!

You've cracked it SaintinNZ. "Boring" is football speak for bad, "exciting" = good. It was true for Puel too, the boring football thing was always a red herring. We just weren't very good.

The year we dropped into League one. My memories are of our average age being about 17 and average weight being about 8 stone. Pushed of the ball by the big boys and we had no reply. Horrid season. This year? Not even close.

In a way, yes. I don’t recall booing, more of a resigned sigh around the stadium. We all knew that we only had kids left to play and that were doing their best. What we didn’t have was the arrogant “I demand to win and be entertained when I put my phone down for long enough to watch the game” BS of now.

Yes,it is odd how many people spend most of the time on their phones at football. Then again it's odd how many new parents push their children along the street hardly knowing they are there yacking away on the bloody phone.

I don’t think it’s arrogant to want entertaining football. We’re not annoyed because we’re losing it’s because we’re playing badly. See comment about less talented players keeping us up with guts and determination.

One game stood out for me that season and it was the visit of Man Utd in the Cup.
The average attendance was prob about 23k that season, but of course it was a sell out for this one and the change of atmosphere in the stadium went from as you described to a similar poisonous/angry one. With some non-regular supporters shouting at the players for a failing to live with the best team in the country

No of course not. I was really referring to the “fans” who feel it necessary to boo their own team because the result doesn’t go their way.
