As opposed to past few weeks where sneezing in general direction of a forward has yielded a penalty

If he never once looked at the 6`4" 15 stone keeper in his eye line straight behind the ball, why did he feel the need to jump 2` off the floor and push his studs out to reach the ball?
surely with no other player anywhere near the ball he would not risk a hamstring strain with that lunge but would instead just use his speed to chase the ball down and bring it under control then go unopposed for goal?

Best thing about Austin’s was he clearly left his foot in deliberately. To me it looked like he changed his mind last second but couldn’t stop the action
    It’s laughable that

    Not getting into this again
Shouldn’t have bit in the first place
As I said at the time anyone who thinks that is a red has never played the game and been in that position or is wumming or trying to be PC
He knew he was in a race and he tried honestly with no INTENTION which is the key word in the decision as pundits and refs keep chirping on about
Also as I have said before I can understand why a ref gave a red even though they were wrong but I said no-one else would get one all season
Why - cause it is never a ****ing red to people that play the game instead of typing about it
To date I think their have been 17 similar/identical/worse challenges since mane’s of which only 4/5 have received a yellow the rest let off

Btw Diego if you don’t know the difference between looking at a goalie to see where he is to hurt him and looking at a situation in match play you are no better than Matt h

I know full well what Mane saw, why did he make that move to get the ball if he didn't think the keeper would get there first?
All he would have achieved is to push the ball further away from himself and have a longer chase to bring it under control.
What do you think of elbows when a player "never once looks" at his opponent?

    Nope
I did take to counting them and posting for a while and then realised how sad I was
I then stopped coming on the forum cause I did not like what I had become
Then I thought I had got over it and could trust myself
    Clearly I haven’t and I can’t
There was one the same ****ing day and another the day after ffs.
Anyway I give up as it is more about consistency than the decision itself
I could take the red even though i vehemently disagree with it IF all others were treated the same but they aren’t and they never will be so I will just try to let it go!

I understand what you are saying in a rudimentary way but, all challenges are different and can not be treated the same if common sense is used. A high foot is usually classed as a foul, a high foot that makes contact is most often a yellow card, a stamp to the face is always a red card.

This isn’t about elbows but that is a great topic for deliberate violence going unpunished.
Someone jumps and used there arms to gain leverage and catches a player, that I have sympathy with and would say is generally a free kick or yellow
When a player looks at another player and wades/leads with elbow (Rooney v Wigan ) and goes unpunished that is a joke.
When a player goes to equalise a challenge like gerrard did against Utd few years back or zlatan the other year - that is a red. Usually you can tell the difference
Granted some players have perfected the dark arts ( I thought gerrard perfected the art of diving and looking like he tried to stay up, scholes perfected the art of having everyone believe he couldn’t tackle so refs were lenient) and those players in a perfect world would get tumbled
    But they wont

I don't think we are very far apart with our views, you just seem to have a block with the Mane situation <laugh>

That’s fair enough but there have been plenty since the mane one to view.
I can make my piece with the red if exactly what you said happens - but it doesn’t
I said at the time manes would be the only red given this season
Thus far I am right, that will Be because despite all the noises the refs will have discussed it during their debrief and will have come to a decision similar to my point of view.
The ref was wrong that day, imho. I also said at the time that to me that decision did not alter the outcome of the game. I believe we were always going to lose that game with or without mane.
My beef was always with the inconsistency.

Wow how to nail me with a back handed compliment lmao
If I could write in slo mo I would :)
Don’t agree with the red on mane but would live with it if all the others got penalised but they didn’t and haven’t so until the consistency is achieved the decision was wrong.
Thanks for getting me riled up lmao<laugh><laugh><laugh>

He's spot on about the inconsistency though, unless you believe Mane intended to injure the City keeper he should have received a yellow, the cut was what made the referee send him off.
But here's Gallagher's take on a similar incident.

    My comment includes Gallagher's quotes.

Sorry, studs first is always a red, that is where the inconsistency comes in, Spurs should have had 2 reds last week but for poor reffing.
High foot is usually just a foul (or yellow if contact is made), you see them quite often in the league.

Not all situations are the same and foot to face is not a one size fits all.

As per usual you're missing the point.<grr>

It's purely down to the referees discretion instead of the letter of the law.
