Easing him in gentle. after four months he can do ten minutes so after around three years he could be fit enough for ninety minutes. Neil Warnock will know you cant rush a player like Tomlin too much as it will upset him.

You commented on man management of Colin being better but if what you’re saying now is he don’t play much and when he does he’s a sub who got subbed today?
As to match fitness, he has been training around first team since August so that is poor management if he’s blowing out his fat arse all the time.
So Johnson was a better man management as he got him shoehorned (there lays the problem) into the team and fitter.

You guys are probably both right - certainly nearer the truth about Tomlin than me having witnessed him for a season and a half at your club. I was only making the point that if anyone should be able to handle Tomlin, then Warnock should be favourite.

The broader discussion about Warnock and his ability as a manager is still worthwhile but maybe better saved for another time and another thread. <ok>

Loved watching Lee Tomlin, one of the most skillful players if not the most I have seen in my 60 years at Ashton Gate..however he did not fit the way we play...hope he does well at Cardiff.

Interesting reading regarding Lee Tomlin, but some obvious points seem to have been overlooked with regards to LT. He was brought in at a point when this young team were heading the wrong way, they needed help. Johnson's ethos and football philosophy wasn't working at that point, we needed the class and guile a Lee Tomlin can bring, and it worked for us, with hindsight I have to admire Johnson not being so close minded to accept sometimes another direction, albeit temporary is required due the nature of this 'results' business. He did it with great effect yesterday by playing Flint up front and changing the game completely, we were very unlucky not to win come the end.

Lee Tomlin just about bought Johnson the time he required to get our young side to where he wanted them, he played his part, unfortunately towards the end of his tenure here his presence in the side became the polar opposite of what his teammates around him now required of another teammate. a fantastic player and a visible danger to us when he was introduced to the game at Ashton Gate but a whiny, moaner on the pitch who would aggravate anybody playing alongside him.

I miss Lee tomlin, in his pomp he is a joy to watch.

I am glad he is gone too he didn't fit..

    It can be both.

The only trouble with Tomlin, as we seen last season, he had a good game every 4 or 5. That’s not good enough. Him being brought on as a sub and being subbed was hilarious! So glad he’s not here now. Wouldn’t swap him with one player at our club. Give it a year or so and Cardiff will ship him off.
