Just got some posh biscuits in for chrimbo from Fortnum & Mason. They'd better be good at £25 for a tin of biscuits !
That sounds totally awesome! Would still need ketchup though! @luvgonzo Salad Cream? How can we say humanity is progressing when you come out with something like that? We need to have a serious talk!
Their homemade Tatar is ****ing lush though. And they garnish it with a stick of pickled gherkin, onion and red pepper. It’s a great event. Newlyn fish festival. At the end of the event they have a massive fish auction with all the proceeds going to the fisherman’s mission (charity for ex fishermen). All the fish is donated by local fishermen too and everything has to go in an hour long frantic auction. This year I got 4 huge Monkfish tails and a huge bag of squid for a £10. Such a bargain. Cooked up a big fish feast for a few friends. Proper job
Keep this to yourself, just between you and me, but I cover my biryani with it and anything else with mince in it. But not in fish finger sandwiches. Some things are just sacrosanct.
Fish finger sandwich is a classic mate but ketchup? Mayo with garlic, vinegar and chopped gherkins better.
Yeah amazing. People were walking out with 3 or 4 carrier bags full of Turbot, Hake, John Dory etc. They sell it all off and it basically goes to the highest bidder. It's held it the building where they have the daily fish market when the fish is landed, but you're paying a novelty price really as it's a bit of fun for charity. The Monk and Squid I got would probably cost you around £50-£60 on any other day in a fishmongers.
You should come down for the fish festival fella. Bank Holiday end of August. It's a great little festival and there's a monumental piss up afterwards in the local pubs. The Swordfish being the hub of drunken revelry
Bank Holiday end of August mate. It's a cracking little festival, held in the harbour at Newlyn. Good family day out and massive piss up afterwards
I'd love to remember that. But I'm 4 guinnesses in and the football hasn't started yet I'll have to make an effort to get down there. We eat more fish than meat in our house so a fish festival is right up our street!
Weymouth fish festival is one of the best around... Good chance for you to drop my Christmas present off too
I'd love to mate but I'm off to Lewes tomorrow from Bedfordshire. That's just a little too out of my way. Next year maybe.
