same, but hes young and a CB, and apparently was very good in the copa. However apart from that nothing. Anyone know how he compares to Cahill?
6ft5 (that's a mere 2 inches shorter than Crouch isn't it?) 20 y/o- already playing for Uruguay's main squad. Top rated player at Copa America. Fellow Uruguayan with Suarez- they can have "look how Uruguayan we are" parties and keep each other company. (sorry don't know any stereotypes for that country) Don't really know much about him- but what little I do know he sounds good.
One source on twiiter says Sebastian Coates bid for £7m from Liverpool to Nacional has been ACCEPTED And Rory Smith at the telegraph is now saying that Coates's father/agent is in the UK for talks and if Man City dont overbid us today, then Coates will sign for Liverpool. Young player of the tournament at Copa America ( Suarez was player of the tournament),Godin ( who we have been linked with also)couldnt get in the team because of 20yo Coates, apparently has English ancestry which will help with deal Citeh and Milan have both been linked with him
from what ive read (somewhat limited tbh) he seems like a great signing (if we get him). He wouldnt have to be brilliant immediately as he has time on his side and carra and agger will probably still be the first chioce pairing, but the quoted fee isnt excessive either. Hed also replace the aerial presence of soto
By the way it appears City are baout to sign Nasri,so they may be more concerned with that than Coates
Sounds like exactly the right sort of signing for us. Likewise for Arsenal, but Wenger won't sign anyone for more than £1.35 and a packet of Kettle's crisps.
rorysmith_tel Rory Smith Via (the very highly recommended) @MartinCharquero: Nacional's vice-president has told Uruguayan radio that Coates "will" go to #LFC.
I've not seen him that much but I've heard a lot about him. My only worry would be his lack of experience and the fact he's coming from the Paraguayan league.
Probably related to Ralph Coates: please log in to view this image 21 in Oct and an inch taller than Soto. Nice. Soto and this deal all done quietly, too. Nice twice.
Why is it on so many old football photos the players look so old and haggard? He's probably no older than me on that photo- yet he looks like he could be someones granddad.
Because they were on poor diets and even poorer hairdressers. It makes me laugh when old players say, "Ahh, could Messi have handled the toughness of the game back then?" He wouldn't need to because nobody from the old days would be able to catch him.
Well, the balls and boots were different then too though. I've seen my dads old leathery balls- It looks like it would take a lot more strength and energy to kick them than say my sons balls that look light and flimsy by comparison. From what I recall- old balls are less predictable than new balls- harder to steer... Messi might not have been as deft if he had to play with old balls. Ahem... And the boots too- they're completely different from when I was a kid. They're more like trainers now than boots. Very hard to compare past and present players... Can't say that Messi would have run away from them in the old days- Messi might have had a beer belly if he was playing in the 60's if he had the same diet they had back then.
