Surely it would be illegal or at least extremely improper for the council to allow external matters such as the signs or gate to affect the result of a planning permission application.
Regardless of the topic of this meeting, I welcome intervention from Emma Hardy as well as attendance from the top brass of HCC to reduce the Allams' isolation - which only seems to make them more malevolent. The Allams/ Hull City situation feels like a hostage scenario but with virtually everything stacked in the perpetrator’s favour. Or maybe more akin to the famous scene in Alien, but with City being John Hurt's character. The club is in worrying decline, we’re in danger of losing another generation, and as loathsome as it seems, I fear the only people likely to have the opportunity to prevent it from dying on the vine are actually the Allams.
Money aside, the most important thing to them is their legacy. If they contrive to malevolently get the club liquidated, so that we end up with Gateshead Tigers, no amount of philanthropy / tax planning in the region will prevent that from being their lasting legacy.
no matter what they do or say from here on in - their legacy will be one of nastiness, petulance, wasted opportunity, financial mismanagement and business incompetence - may Santa **** down your chimney please log in to view this image
This legacy notion is possibly the only remaining defence mechanism left, as it seems they'll get their money back, by hook or by .... However, I think they've ridden most of the bad press and storm and if we were reduced to a Year Zero scenario, I think they'd have a narrative which would satisfy enough and enough cash to prop up their non football legacy in the city. In short, I think their rep and legacy to those outside of football would be intact and the animosity would be from mere grubby football fans from an always-a-failure-anyway football club.
Good post LTT. I think its fair to say, that outside of Hull and even inside of Hull to a certain degree, their reputation is intact and the press has given them the easiest of rides!!!!
In the 'real world' the planning committee of HCC does not have a Labour majority. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
From a footballing legacy perspective that's absolutely true. I was going to say the legacy was set in stone the day Bruce realised Ehab was in charge of signings but in truth there are so many examples of the Allams making very poor decisions because they knew best
