Having seen this week's nominees, I feel there should be a minimum number of appearances, goals scored or something worthwhile achieved whilst wearing the famous hoops.Otherwise we may as well get Jamie Pollock in.
John Collins, one of Saturday's inductees, was one my first QPR heroes. I remember him scoring a hat-trick against table-topping Hull City when we came from behind three times to draw 3-3. That should qualify me.
Spent a small fortune to get back to England to see the league Cup final 1986 had to work extra before and after that weekend to make up time, that alone should qualify me
Apologies for the ambiguity . We all qualify way ahead of any ex player. As we probably also do for the funny farm.
Did anyone go to Sunderland when game was called off? Crewe away on a midweek night, 1983. We won 8-1 1st leg and train broke down on the way to Crewe. We lost 2nd leg 3-0 I think and they let us in, free.
Yeah really good question, it's difficult because I think we all have our golden age growing up with QPR, mine was mid/late 80s to mid 90s and we all have our favs. there are some real no brainers like Alan McDonald, but going passed that who knows? There are players who have shed loads of appearances and nobody quite understands why and then you have a certain Moroccan who made a season few of us will ever forget. My one issue with the whole forever R thing is they seem to be inducting a lot so soon enough they will end up with players who don't deserve it
I get John Collins ( 193 apps, 56 goals ) and Karl Ready ( 246 apps, 11 goals ) but not Tony Thorpe ( 46 apps, 11 goals. ) They'll be inducting Zesh Rehman before long as he played for us on 50 occasions. ( I met him down my local park the other day whilst walking the dog. ) I think I could qualify as I've been going since I was two years of age and next season will be my fiftieth year of supporting the R's.
Has Devon white been inducted yet Is there a list of inductees When will we run out of players to add Or can players be added posthumously
Tony Tagg, My memory fails me. Did he play more than the 2 minutes for us when he scored against Derby in the season we wuz robbed? I may even have got his name wrong. If so, getting inducted really would be some achievement Ron Abbott, Tony Hazell, Henry (our one) who also played for Arsenal - he should be inducted for the mullet of all time and his unerring instinct to head the ball even if it was only 2 inches off the ground
If memory serves me right, wasn’t Tony Thorpe a real let down when he joined us under much fanfare ? I do remember giving it to the Luton fans at their place when we signed for us ‘We’ve got Tony Thorpe, We’ve got Tony Thorpe We’ve got Tony, we’ve got Tony We’ve got Tony Thorpe’ Just before a 50p piece hit me on the forehead. They’ll be inducting Kurt Bakholt, before much longer. His 3 minutes at Man City one year was amazing....ly ****e
Haven't looked at the stats, but my recollection is that Tony Thorpe was a raging success compared to Mike Sheron
To answer the OP: 1) Did you play for QPR? 2) Are you free next Saturday? They won’t respond to my emails to induct Egutu Oliseh.
