Really well balanced opinion with a start, middle and end. Well worth the read - 5 stars from me. This is what this forum should be about. An opinion that everyone can relate to and a pleasure to add our views to it. Couldn't agree with you more Sturridge, he is quality and it's there for all to see. However, I think he is a lot higher up the Chelsea pecking order than 5th. I think this season he will be used more the Drogba & Anelka. He's not being played because of suspension and that's all. Otherwise I think he's be starting with Torres. For this reason and this reason alone I think we should be looking else where or at least playing Square pegs in square hole. Sess is a play maker and should be inbetween a front two where he can drift to either flank at his will. Then I think we will benefit from the lad. Good read tho fella.
Having said that, Bruce knows if a top-class striker becomes available he will be prepared to make a case to owner Ellis Short. Sunderland have already turned down the offer of loaning either Mame Biram Diouf or Federico Macheda from Manchester United – and now know Danny Welbeck will not be made available. So that leaves the Black Cats boss scouring the foreign market, while also keeping an eagle eye on the situation at Manchester City. Nonetheless, if nothing happens Bruce will have few complaints about going to January with Gyan and Sessègnon backed up by promising new recruits Ji Dong-Won from South Korea, and teenager Connor Wickham. He added: “I am quietly confident we have enough firepower to see us through, but If I was to do something that would be the area I would look at. However, it is very, very difficult to do that.” Pressed specifically on the transfer front, Bruce repeated his assertion Sunderland are not close to a breakthrough. Out-of-favour defenders Nyron Nosworthy and Matt Kilgallon will need to shifted from the wage bill before anything happens on the incoming front – and neither player has attracted a firm offer yet. Bruce is also wary of being pressed into snap judgements about his squad based on the disappointment of the derby result. “He said: “The defeat does not affect my thinking at all. Why not just ****ing release Killa & Nos? Killa in particular could do a very good job for a championship side, a higher one at that.
We should put them on free transfers, releasing them we have to pay their contract up (i think), but then it comes down to wages for the club getting them on a free. As for Wickham, i wasnt really saying you were righting him off, but he can do the same as sturridge, and sturridges goal scoring record isnt that great 73 games played 15 goals until he went to Bolton and got 8 in 12 but Ba went to West ham and got 7 in 12 and i still think he is pants (even when we were linked with him i did). I dont think they will let Sturridge leave though, he had a good pre-season and they have said if he didnt, he would be allowed to leave on loan, he did, so they are keeping him, and he is suspended for the 1st 3 games, after getting a red in Boltons last game.
Cheers pal! Didn't realise Sturridge was suspended either, good point about him potentially playing more than Anelka and Drogba. Would love to get him even if it is just on a loan. Totally agree about Sess, and if we don't get anyone else, hopefully Wickham can be that man. BB- good point about Chelsea looking at Utd and seeing the progress Welbeck made with us. Hopefully young players, and their managers as well, might lean towards us in the future, looking back at the Welbeck deal? "Nothing is imminent transfer wise" - ouch. Interesting that SB sees another striker as a higher priority than a LM though. God knows we need both, but I'd probably prefer a LM personally, if we had to choose. Reaaaally close call though.
Remember Michael Owen's debut for England, he was younger than his shirt number so age does not really matter
Regarding Defoe - He would want big wages (80-100k) and doubt he would leave London unless it was to a top 6 club Regarding Kranjcar - He would want European Football so reckon he would go abroad Sunderland should maybe go for Bentley Jenas Hutton Bassong Palacios Crouch is a possibility though
