Hello all, Don't know if anyone has posted this, or something similar, so sorry if people have. I find it hard to keep up with every thread at the best of times, and last night there seemed to be a lot going on so I just went to bed instead. Jermaine Defoe. I've always liked him as a player, and not really had an opinion of him as a person. When we signed Bent my initial opinion was that we were signing 'a younger Defoe', as Defoe has always been amongst the goals. When there's been discussion of Defoe as a potential replacement, I've thought that sounds ok if the money is not too much (due to his age). I noticed a few posters who said that after what he did to Gordon, they wouldn't have him at the club. I thought that seemed a bit of a strong opinion, surely we need goals and surely that challenge on Gordon wasn't intentional? However- and the point of the post- my opinion changed last night. Did anyone else see him swipe at De Gea's arms when it was clear he wasn't going to get the ball? A new £17m kid making his debut at OT, and he blatently kicked out at him. Could have done some serious damage. Made me think that in fact he probably did mean it on Flash, and definitely made me think I don't want him at our club. Nasty, nasty intention. One person I would have at our club, however, is Danny Sturridge. They've bought Lukaku who surely jumps above Sturridge, as well as Anelka, Drogba and Torres. And they're signing Mata to go alongside Malouda and Kalou as other options in attack. Get the bid in Brucey! KTF x
Defoe - No Thank you Sturridge - Definitely I think Defoe is one of the dirtiest centre forwards outside of Kevin Davies! He gets away with it at Spurs but I can lay very short odds that the stunt he did last night would have got him a red card at Sunderland - and probably should have as well.
I am not a Defoe fan (although atm I recognise that we need somebody like him) and yes when he kicked the manure keeper, my thoughts were that is what he did to Gordon and look what has happened to CG since. So a nasty piece of work definitely, do I like him NO, do we need somebody like him yes!
To be honest i cudnt care less if Defoe has a bit of nastiness/edge in his play, most good centre forwards do (Rooney, Shearer, Bellamy etc) and all i know is that if we had a Defoe/Bent style poacher on Saturday when those balls were being flashed across the 6yard area they would have had a field day!
Defoe has nowehere near the quality of Bellamy though syd (and Diouf was terrible for us - never did anything to adhere himself to the fans)
Completely agree with all on that we do need somebody like him! Morally I'd turn him down. Although if we don't start scoring I daresay my opinion will have changed by January haha. Marcus completely agree he could have got a red on a different day, or if he played for us, although we've done pretty well at avoiding reds this season so far! Syd, good comparison with Bellamy, although I'm not sure if Bellamy would try and hurt a fellow pro in the same vindictive way on the pitch. I'd much prefer Bellamy to Defoe, what happened to the buzz about us getting him on loan? I'm praying that Bruce and Quinn pull another deadline day fast one like we did with Gyan!
I see 'arry has said that modric is not for sale. Get a bid in for krancjar now and also sturridge 
Sturidge and Krancjar are the answer to almost all our problems. The problem now is getting them to come?
I agree that Sturridge is the one. Kranjcar, i'd love him, but he seems to be back in the fold at Spurs now.
well he did leave it for germany and also merseyside...the mug.. so nah i wouldn't, but im a hot climate person, so don't blame him.. but he is a helluva player.
I agree, he was superb for Everton. Galaxy are romping the Western Conference though, i'd imagine he'll stick around till that's dusted regardless, meaning a loan in January would be the only likely option, we need someone now. Sturridge, as a point of note, can play BOTH positions, he has become the perfect fit for us the way the team has shaped up, we can play him left and change to a 4-4-2 in an instant if required. Sturridge is the man.
So can Wickham, who we payed 8+ million for, lets not right him off just yet, I think he has a big part to play this season, even if he is only 18.
Sturridge is SURELY available for loan, and Chelsea may see how Welbeck developed here and think 'if we improved Sturridge by half of that....'. Sturridge and England for me are Englands future front 2, he needs to play, he'd playe every week here. Steve, Not writing Whickham off one bit mate, but he's a couple of years younger, and i think his season will be next.
