There's no such thing as "only" a cat when they've been with you a long time. Sad times Jasper. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

:( so sorry to hear that. I can understand your pain. As RJ said he wasn't 'only' a cat. He was your cat and your family :(

    Shh :)

I'm on Ep6 S2 at the moment. Hopefully, in between meetings I can get to halfway through the 3rd series :)

So sorry to hear that Jasper. It’s certainly not ‘only’ a cat. We had another episode with Boy last night and it brought me to tears (and I don’t hardly ever cry). Heartbreaking for you. I’m sure he had the most wonderful life though.

Oh Jasper, I’m so sorry to hear that, my heart goes out to you.

As others have said above, no such thing as “only a cat”.

Don't let my son near cheese either. I don't have OCD, but even I object to brie with all its innards roughly removed leaving the white rind dry and twisted and enough soft cheese to show you what you've missed but not enough to smear on a cracker. :(
And he goes all quiet in the kitchen and you know he's grazing on your lunch and will just leave the bits he doesn't fancy<wah> It's like having a wildebeest in your house.

My wife does the same with Brie.... if I don’t stop her. My solicitor has photos should we ever get to that stage.

Really sorry to hear that. I know exactly how you feel they are part of the family. Think of the good times you were lucky enough to have with him not the fact he is gone. Sad times :emoticon-0106-cryin

One of my cats is nearly 18 and our dog is 12. I have a horrible feeling they may go at a similar time. Both seem fine at the moment thankfully.

My other cat is only 2 so how she will react I have no idea. My oldest cat was sad and spent ages looking when he lost his previous cat and dog friends. :(

Any education experts on here? My son’s school have just announced yesterday that they are stopping his Engineering A-Level after this term and changing it to Product Design because the engineering teacher is leaving.

We are not happy for a few reasons, not least because they changed his electronic engineering gcse to Product Design half way through the course and it was his worst exam Result.. he just scrapped a pass (C).

He only stayed at the school for 6th form because of the engineering A- level ( he’s also doing maths and physics which could have been done anywhere) and now, one term in, they are stopping it.

Does anyone know what notice period a teacher needs to give? We’ve heard a term and half a term. We’re not happy that they’ve left it to the last minute to tell us.

To be honest, Fats....the end result is the same whether the school has behaved badly or not. No arguing or complaining will change any of that. The real point is what does this mean for your son. Is Product Design suitable for his future career plans? Can he go elsewhere and is that even in his best interests. I was in the 5th year at school when they made the arbitrary decision that my grade couldn't do science at A level and they wouldn't even let us take O levels in science despite spending all those years aiming for it.....presumably also down to a teacher shortage. I left school..switched to a Tech College and took three science O levels and 2 A levels at the same time (involved some evening classes). So, however annoyed you are (and you have every right to be), now is the time to look at options with your lad. All depends what he intends to do after A levels.

You’re right Fran. We won’t be able to change anything but we need to know what the school will do (extra) to support his next choice. It’s the third time They have changed or withdrawn something that has an affect on him and just at a critical time for him.

He doesn’t want to change schools now but we may need to consider this. There have been so many changes and changes in staff (ridiculously high) that it is now time we had some words.

How about contacting someone like AQA for a definition of the differences?
    http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/desi.../design-and-technology-product-design-3d-2550

Alternatively give Eastleigh College a call (I know you live in Northampton) as they have a well established engineering department and they could also give you good advice.

Because they are members of the family. I've lost five in my lifetime and they were all painful.
