I want to be objective here so please no dismissive comments. ITFC are achieving a set of results which we would be happy with. They do not spend big time, certainly not the £5 - 8m on players that we have squandered in the past few years. Mick McCarthy says it how it is and manages a side created from modest means.
So, maybe we should accept that we are a mid table Championship side now and that our manager is not going to achieve anything greater. In this way he will be around for a few years without the expectation of promotion weighing heavily on his back.
Indeed, but tell that to fans who'll want him out in no time at all just like all the others. Personally I'd happily give the new regime this year and next before pannicking.
Definitely should be allowed a second year at least. A years experience in the Championship should be immensely beneficial, and he will have a much better understanding of life here.
And the type of players to bring in to compete in this hard slog of a division - as that's where we'll be for the indefinite future.
We picked up Garner and Waghorn for a combined fee of £1 Million and got Cellina on a season long loan and we are the 2nd highest scorers in the league! Mick has many, many faults but having an eye for a bargain isn't one of them. Perhaps a lesson that some of your previous managers would have done well to learn.
It looks like the mistakes of others at NCFC could result in the sale of some of our most promising players. As usual the mistakes of others means further disappointment for the fans. They are the last people to be considered. I notice that the mighty Barnsley are about to be taken over by a consortium including a billionaire. Surely if this club are considered good enough for a take over then why not Norwich City? Is it just DS who is preventing this from happening or is it that there is absolutely no interest?
Careful what you wish for, Cardiff and Hull had new owners who tried to change the team colours or the team name very much against the will of the supporters. If every single team was bought by mega rich new owners, someone would still have to come bottom of the league
So why just highlight the two that went pear-shaped and against the fans wishes? No mention of Leicester City, Manchester City or Chelsea in your rationale? Because it (foreign investment) has worked swimmingly well for them.
Funny you should mention Chelsea and Man. City, how many on here have whinged about teams buying success and now want us to follow the same route? Remind me of the meaning of hypocrisy!
Not saying it's ideal, or what I want for the club, but we can't just tread water for much longer and survive. If you equate it to a 'sink or swim' scenario, I know which direction the club is heading currently.
OK, so it's working at Wolves (even though they AND several other teams) are getting off 'Scot Free' by completely flouting FFP. I'd LOVE to see a 'significant' points deduction for clubs that do flout the rules, but don't ever see it actually happening somehow. Fair comment Cromer and I do tend to agree that we need some injection of cash.
I guess that's where we differ, if, God forbid we dropped out of the league, no matter how far, I would still follow the team and support in any way that I could
Interesting and totally honest article on MFW - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...need-to-want-to-find-them-in-the-first-place/ Sorry KIO (and MANY others), but it seems to me that we're 'between a rock and a hard place!!!' for the foreseeable future. Edit - Unless there's a sudden upturn in our playing style/winning games, I predict that the 'waiting list' for STs will be a distant memory after this season. I know there are many like Dave who will go to most home games (and many away games). Personally, I'll renew my membership, but will probably mostly attend Under 23 games etc. Sorry Dave and ILD (if he's still lurking)
No need to appologise JM Fan, we are what we are, I've had green and yellow blood in my veins for well over 60 years and it will remain that way until I go to that great football stadium in the sky!
