We as a family usually get over to Waterford / Dunmore once a year. we've been lucky enough to go abroad every year since my two sons were babies but still their favourite holidays are in Ireland your a lucky man. My mother and her parents were from Athlone but I've never managed to visit yet.
I’m near Mullingar in the midlands Nick. Actually only 30 minutes from Athlone. Know the town quite well. Some quality hotels there if you make it over at some stage
May well do Eire think wife wants to tour west coast next as we have friends up at a place called Tang I think near the north, north west.
May do we usually fly to Waterford but last time got rerouted to cork and drove down to Waterford fantastic roads. So may fly to cork again who knows no doubt the kids will dictate the itinerary and I'll pay for the pleasure of their company as per usual.
