it would appear that we're tracking players from the continent as they offer the best value compared to buying british with a decent potential to make a profit from future transfers. this is senseible i suppose.

we also appear to know how much their perceived market value is by the media however we're deliberately low balling our bids for them. i believe that we're doing this as we know that we can offer the player better wages than they are on in say France without it being a massive amount for PL player. this way the player states his desire to go because he can double his money then the parent club has a decision to make. do they try and keep the player against his wishes or sell for slightly less than their supposed market value to keep the player/club happy?

its a bit of a risky strategy but its also quite clever when you think about it. it means we might miss out on a fair few targets along the way but when we finally land one we get a good deal for them with the potential to make enough from a future transfer to not only buy a replacement but still have enough left to pay his contract over its entire length. i wouldn't be surprisesd if this is why we're not offering what we got for jose in exchange for a new left back. we're trying to cover his likely wages out of the £6m as well.

The strategy is to wait until the last minute of the transfer window to get the lowest price possible for players. Very risky strategy, but fat mike loves a gamble.

Putting your highest bid in at the last minute saves a bidding war. Either get the player for a fair price or let him go elsewhere.

this might work in the case maiga as he's kicking up a stink with his own club and they might just spit their dummy out and let him go. pieters on the other hand seems like he's happy enough at PSV although he would be open to the move. if it got to the last day i don't think he'd kick up to much of a fuss if he had to stay where he is.

It's an extremely high risk strategy and it means we're going to go until January at the earliest with no left back and no replacement for Carroll (at which point we'll have gone a year with no main striker bought).

We'll struggle to score goals this season, but hopefully we'll be able to nick enough results to compete.

personally i think once we get a settled side and Ba finds his feet along side the like of ben arfa i think we'll be alright. Marveauxs record suggests he'll grab his share of goals and gosling will be a goal threat too if he can break through into the starting 11.
