I’ve just had a scroll through his twitter page. Poor bloke seems really rattled. Seems to be replying to everyone with nonsense.
Anyone who has supported Saints for as long at Matty has is beyond being rattled. He always engages with people on twitter.
I never called for Ranieri’s head but agreed with the decision afterwards. All I’ve ever said is that if we had to take the amount of abuse we did, sackings like you with Puel should be criticised too. We were dropping like a stone, nobody would argue with the sacking of Ranieri in its own merit. Everything thrown at us was regarding the previous season which is great if you live in the past. Puel on the other hand, wasn’t doing nearly as bad a job in the season in question but didn’t have the credit in the bank from a top season before. Both different sackings but probably either you have to agree with both or disagree with both
i applaud Puel - he seems a very dignified man and I like Leicester too. At least we were properly beaten. Its the last minutes goals like wit man city and arsenal that really pissed me off!
Was it I tend to agree with you, on the 4th goal. The moment Cedric conceded possession, Vardy ran wide to split the CBs. VVD could have done more to keep the cross out, but not having done so, we have to applaud the quality of the cross and the understanding between Vardy and Okazaki. I knew people would blame Yoshida for this goal, because for some blaming Yoshida is a default setting. Truth is, Yoshida just didn’t know if Okazaki was going to make the run across him, as he did, or if he was going to go behind him for a square ball, rather than the pulled back cross he converted. It was a quality goal and a lesson in team understanding. Charlie’s miss? He met the ball too well, keeping it too low. Had he been stretching a bit, he may have got under the ball which would have given it just that little bit of height it needed to clear Scheimel’s dive. Good save nonetheless.
And a decent chunk of us of us sang OWTSGMI constantly for the last half hour. And applauded the team at the end. Most bewildering was a nutter when Puel came over to see their fans bellowing that he was a w***er because he'd never got Saints playing like that, not even once. Vin
I might join Claude for a stroll. I think all the premier league managers should join claude for a strole down the river bank and lets hold hands. Football's too competitive. Lets just scrap the points, the promotions, the relegations, the leagues. Play whoever you want on a saturday its all friendly
You wouldn't think so; well not unless we somehow beat Chelsea. Then again, he probably shouldn't still be here now. The Everton win came at a great time for him, but I never read too much into that. They were awful that day (although not as awful as we were yesterday). Decent performances against City and Arsenal yes, but players getting up for performance in one-off big games doesn't pay the bills. Especially when the grand total was only one point anyway. We could easily have lost to Bmouth in between Everton and Leicester, and were fairly dire in the first 45 mins of that game too. Unless Les delivers us some late Xmas presents in January (which, in truth, is needed by whoever is sitting in the dugout), I can't see us turning it around this season with MP in charge. Although Les should really be the first one out the door, between the two of them. No point me talking about the game yesterday. I'm sure it's all been covered in the pages already, so awful were we.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/15771566.Puel__Saints_made_me_a_better_manager/ Puel says he became a better manager at Saints....I can believe that....he must have learnt how tough the EPL can be and to have learnt from that.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if he was sacked after getting a point at the Bridge? I seem to remember something like that happening before!
They wanted it more than us and were pressing us all the way up the pitch. We started brightly but they were better than us on the night and that's it. Strangely, as I looked at our team sheet, I thought to myself, "that's a strong team we have there". Shame they seem to have run out energy on the night. If there is any crumb of comfort, we did try to the end. Blue line, move on. Relegation fight? Don't think so. Melt down? If you like. Not my style. But it was a horrible night. Cold.Wet.Nasty.
There's been a fair few teams like that this season at St Mary's - Watford, Burnley, Leicester and let's not forget West Ham who nearly grabbed a point when being down to 10 and 2 goals down for most of the game. It shouldn't really happen but we don't really get at teams as much as we used to
Man, so many people dont seem to consider us to be in a relegation battle. I'm not criticising but it is not at all knee-jerk to point out that we are almost at the halfway point in the season. After Spurs we have played everyone. you can take our point score and double it at that point. I would not be surprised if we are on on 18 or 19 points. Thats good odds to say we are on track to hit 40 points or fewer. We all want to think that we are better than relegation material but our fixtures have been very kind and we have piss poor return to show for it. We have harder games and more away games to look forward to. Call it what you like, but there's nothing there other than reality to ponder. We are in a very real relegation scenario at present, if it doesnt improve something will have to be done or we accept the consequences.
