Who's the changes for the sake of it last night? Karius was claimed to start for injury First choice CBs given injury starting Only fit LB starting Midfield was Probably what people claim is best. Strikers are who people claim are best TAA? thats the only one?
Did he or did he not make changes from the team that started against everton?, That team would've given WBA as good a game as last nights starters, after all didn't Klopp say he'd rest his top players whenever necessary?
karius for mingolet enforced Taa for gomez, not enforced but he's rotated the two giving each no more than one match per week all year. Lovren no (worse luck) Klavan no Robertson no can for henderson. Fans screaming for it Wijnaldum for Milner. fans shcoked he took wijnaldum out but then all you needed to do was see the crap he served up last night.. coutinho for Ox Firmin for solanke Salah no Ignoring that your point is completely inconsistent. 1. Is that or is that not the strongest team possible given injuries? Some would say yes it is. 2. who's to say if ox and solanke and milner and henderson would play better v west brom or not. those are the 4 out. 3. whats your point cos mane and lovren cost us v everton clearly and both started again last night. mane missed one chance, salah two and lovren battled with rondon all night getting nowhere but didn't give a goal away...... IMO we were two square balls away from a 2-0 and a 1-0 and thats the difference. Firmino didn't see coutinho and mane was selfish.
how often do you see strikers called for handball when they try to chest the ball down but it rolls onto their arms/shoulders etc? Pretty sure it happens all the time even though you can pretty much guarantee they didn't mean to handball it from a miscontrol. Solanke miscontrols the ball onto his arm
I could(but can't be arsed)pull up many games we've dominated but failed to score, possession and missed chances isn't a valid excuse imho, we will never be consistent if we keep changing players, yes I realise some changes have to occur due to injuries but resting players when there's no need to is a no no. Your point on Henderson would suggest Klopp is following supporters views on the player rather than his own, the player in question is overrated and doesn't deserve the captaincy imo, but in Hendo's head he's world class and he struts around like he's the dogs bollocks. Must improve himself or he'll end up a serial bench warmer like Sturridge.
I'm not arguing either way here mate, just find it irritating when people blame something we've been doing all season for a one game **** up.
Not arguing about the Solanke handball as I think ruling it out was the correct call. However... Personally, I think it should be like the OG ruling; if it's going on target anyway then fine. If the hand/arm contacts redirects am off target effort then it's handball. Of course, this would make refereeing that bit harder too.
VAR can sort this out. IMO if that was a VAR call there is no way in hell a ref is giving that goal. nobody could stand over a ball going in off an arm even if it wasn't really intentional he still gains a huge advantage. Theres no difference between the assistant flagging it and a VAR
Maybe, but if you apply that to last night, can you say that once it hits his chest, can you be sure that if it doesn't then hit his arm it would have gone it anyway? Not sure you could with any level of certainty, best left as handball = no goal for me.
Can you provide a link to the directive? As for 'complicated' - there's nothing complicated in the Law as it stands. If it's deemed deliberate, it's an offence. The ref has always had to deem the intent. Nothing's changed. Why issue a directive. Koscielny's wasn't deliberate either imo.
I don't know about this directive. Especially if it contradicts the rules of the game. Sounds a bit fishy. It's not unusual though for refs to have a topic du jour. They focus on for a little while, make an example out of one or two people, then forget about it. I remember there was an incident where the United referees had been verbally bashing a ref one week, so they decided "any talking back is a red card" from here on out. Mascherano happened to talk back to a ref the following week and got a red card. Two or three weeks later... Things back to normal. Players getting angry at refs again, no punishment. I'm sure other teams suffer from random ref directives that are applied only for a short period of time, I'm not suggesting any conspiracy. If they start issuing directives that directly contradict the rules though, that's pretty bad. Especially since we all know by new years they will have moved on to something else and stopped this one. Most important thing in refereeing is consistency. That's one thing that is bad in the English game. Never any consistency in decisions.
Did you look at the video I posted. It came off the defenders foot onto his chest/upper arm - where's the miscontrol?
I agree. I can't find this directive which is why I've asked tobes to post a link because as you say it goes against the Law of the game.
No, it was discussed last year and was reiterated last night on MOTD. Koscielny's wasn't deliberate that's the entire point ffs the effort from Ox looks like it's going over the bar and it hits his hands and goes in the net. You shouldn't be able to score legal goals with your hands, hence the directive saying if that happens rule it out for handball thus assuming intent
