Well yeah. Previous game 7-0 Rotates and we draw 1-1 If anything he should have rotated for West Brom - not the bloody derby.
Yep, Klopp is the new "tinkerman", he should have played his strongest side v Everton and changed tactics last night to suit the game, Sturridge and balls over the top for instance, WBA expected what they faced, we have no plan B.
There is also another angle. The distance to the arm is crucial in determining whether the player had the opportunity to avoid handling the ball. If the distance is 3 yards for example, the defender or attacker hits the ball against the arm and goes into the net. That should be a goal. But if the ball comes from 10 + yards, the player had the opportunity to move his hand away and scoring from that is gaining an unfair advantage even if it was not deemed "deliberate" . I haven't seen the solanke "goal" yet and assess whether the ball came to him from a very short distance or not.
Referees directives don't overrule the Laws of the game they are merely to tell refs 'use your fair judgment/common sense'. The Law states it has to be deliberate and there is no new law saying if unintentional handball leads to a goal it doesn't stand. Unless you can post a link
The directive told them to assume that there was intent if a goal was scored with the hand, so they've not changed any rule, just clarified how it should be interpreted. Whichever way you cut it, scoring a goal with your hand isn't right and not in the spirit of the game or it's rules.
TBH I've seen instances where accidental handball is ignored as a consideration when you gain such a clear advantage. I'm not too pushed by that incident and would certainly see that west brom would be fuming if it had stood. though then again... suck it up **** happens should be the rule all round.
From where i was sitting it looked like handball due to the movement of the arm forwards. I don't think the movement was intended for the purpose of handling it was just his momentum but since it looks like he moved his arm to the ball & by the goalies movement the direction of the ball was changed i'm not surprised that it was disallowed. I am tempted to say deffo goal but soft but shall refrain
He's rotated all season. He's made 20+ changes more than any other PL team! He should have played a stronger side against Everton, I wasn't saying otherwise. I didn't like the suggestion that that game was somehow different to what we had been doing previously. "Momentum was lost" because we switched things around. Where was the "momentum gained" comments when we were winning? Edit... It's a bit like zonal making; great until something goes wrong. Then all and sundry come out the woodwork to criticise. Where was you when it was going right?
Certainly didn't hit his hand, and how the ref judged it from behind I don't know. Did he get help from the lino? Anyway, its done now so little point in going on with it.
Can you post a link as I can't find anything about the directive. As for 'how it should be interpreted', it doesn't need clarifying, how much clearer could it be than 'if it's deliberate' - which the ref has always had to decide anyway. What need clarifying? The only change I am aware of was the directive about 'if the arm or hand is in an unnatural position' it's a clear handball. And if he'd scored it with an outstretched hand I'd agree but it rolled down his arm.
Gotta look at how and why it went right when it did, opposition strength for example, injuries, taking future games into consideration. Klopp underestimated Everton, doesn't matter about league position when it comes to the local derby, and last night he made changes just for the sake of it, we have no CL until February so there's less reason to rotate until then, the FA Cup is more suited to giving fringe players game time. Klopp(like everyone else)should admit mistakes and learn from them.
What's complicated about a directive that says the ref should assume intent if a goal is scored with the hand? That way it removes the kind of farcical goal we saw Arsenal score at Burnley. You shouldn't be allowed to score a goal with your arm or hand irrespective of intent to deceive, simple as.
