Individually our players are very good but collectively they are under performing and that is down to the coaching and the way we are set up to play. I could not pick out a player who performed to an acceptable standard last night and poor old Lamina has gone backwards since he joined us. Davies could not cope with their big strong players and was frequently pushed off the ball. He should have been replaced by Emile at half time. Why is Romeu a shadow of the player he was last season? I would describe our football as leisurely, pedestrian almost near static, lazy, and lethargic whereas Leicester's was high energy, fast, physical and they closed us down and gave us no room. I will not criticise the players but the coaching and team management really does have to be questioned.
I thought Romeu was all over the place last night, and hasn't been great for a while tbh. Gabbi didn't look too interested either, though Redmond had a positive impact again though short lived. Blue line under this one I think... who's doing Chelsea
Your call but I thought I was quite balanced. There is every danger we will go down this season on current evidence, ignore it if you choose to. I'm not saying we are crap, neither are Palace, but its not working is it. I was simply saying that we have two more games in December, and if we fail to lift ourselves from this performance something is seriously wrong. If that's the case, my opinion is that we need to do something managerially or playing staff wise in January or we will be more than flirting with relegation. Doesnt feel like much of an over-reaction to our season so far.
Yeah, he's been on and off. Have to think that he was Puels man, singled out as a key player and shown some faith. The sacking probably left a bad taste with him and some of the other players as well as fans.
Not sure that’s fair or reflective mate. I was the one calling knee jerkers and I still am for the reason that we were suffering a last season hangover and it was too soon. I’m not saying he is the right manager for us, just that, like many seem to be piping up about now, like Puel he should be given more time. That is a little hypercritical in my opinion to be saying CP should have had more time but wanted MP2 out after 12 games.
Can anyone sat down that end tell me what exactly happened with the 3rd? It didn't seem like the ball was played across with any real pace and instead everyone just switched off... obviously couldn't see from my end though.
Yeah that's fair enough, though at the time the difference for me was that I could see what Puel was trying to implement whereas we didn't seem to have any pattern to our play or plan from what I had seen... I think he deserves a bit more time as he's shown something different recently though like I say. Please can we see the back 3 get a run of games though!
I would like to understand the decision behind dropping Højbjerg and Stephens. They were both standout against arsenal. Were they injured? Rested?
Leave me alone. I’ve been thinking about that post since the 20th minute Anyone want help with their lottery numbers?
That’s weird coz exactly same for me! I think that performance was down to management tactics as it really did look as though we had no idea Leicester were going to play that way! Players are culpable as well tho.
People do suggest this ‘could see what Puel was doing’ line, but we were often clueless with him. He played effective counter attacking football in the Milk Cup, and was unlucky not to win it, but other than that it wasn’t great to watch, bar a few upturns over short spells of four or five games where we went unbeaten or win etc. The diamond wasn’t great and it took a while to change, and those last two months (I actually think it was after we lost to Beer Sheeva) we were pretty terrible. I just think at times we all remember things differently as it more suits our position now. I’m not saying people do this on purpose, although some do, but I don’t get this Claude was great line and we could see what he was doing stuff cos I don’t think he was much different to MP2. The reasons for me sit with our Boards inactivity in the past windows and our players aren’t that great. MP2 would have beaten us yesterday if he had been in charge at Leicester.
Agreed that it shows the difference in a board that have fully capitalised on their success and built on it. Well done to them.
I’m not sure Leicester have done that tbh- not sure who they really brought after they won the league, Slimani? Ndidi to replace Kanye, MgGuire... I think their starting point was better than ours, but unlike us they refused to sell some of their better players, or the player refused to leave (Vardy to Arsenal).
William, I disagree about the diamond. The first two home games last season had fans moaning and groaning. Before long the anti-diamond bandwagon was rolling fast. I can sit here now and remember a spell in that first half against Watford when we were tearing through them. We missed chances and could have been 2 up. Game probably over and their plan changed and unravelled. It wasn’t free-flowing, non-stop excitement but this was something new to the players and would take time. I could see what he was trying and could see that it could work. I said at the timemhat he was right to continue with it because he believed in it. Today we have a manager that people keep Complaining that he doesn’t know his best team and doesn’t know what he’s doing. Puel did know what he was doing, he just said wasn’t given enough time by the fans or the players. I’m not remembering differently to suit my position. If you go back you’ll rad I was saying this at that time too.
Ah to be fair you’re right, I was at the Watford game and we battered them, but the point is we regressed massively, to the point where we didn’t really know what to do and our play became dull and predictable. maybe none of us can put our finger on why, and that’s the annoying bit... Perhaps we need a manager with character and charisma as those types tend to do well with us!
