Just had a quick look, apparently it is all the coach's fault (mainly Black) for making Puel **** when he was here.
Saintsweb is utter gold, genuinely love reading it sometimes. That heisenberg is possibly the greatest wum in the history of the Internet.
Probably the worst team performance I have witnessed from a Southampton side since the days of Branfoot. Why did Steve Davis decide to have worst performance of his entire career tonight when we needed him most. I must have lost the plot because I had no idea Redmond had been subbed on for Boufal, and didn't find out who scored our goal until after the game! All I can say is that the best team won and the Referee had a decent game.
We are in a relegation battle this season, there is no question about it. Frankly, I can't understand how we are mid table still. We had a minor upswing in form and now a dropback. What happens next will be very telling. If we can't pull ourselves up after this for Chelsea and Hudds then things will need to change very quickly whether that be manager or new signings. Inaction isnt going to be an option this season I dont feel.
Yeah I never really used to go on there, now I can't stop, like our version of Arsenalfan TV. Means when we lose there is always the silver lining of watching the meltdown unfold over there. Kind of wish I had gone on there back in 2014 when everybody was leaving
Everyone from 9th and below are in a relegation battle this season. No obvious weak teams at the moment. Very odd season so far.
I tried looking for old threads on my nights at the weekend but it seems they only keep 4 pages at a time.
There's been some classic threads on SW over the years, shame if they've been lost. Some proper meltdowns too. When they go for a meltdown they really go hard.
For me its the teams that are improving, Everton, Leicester have their **** together now, Palace are making strides. I'm starting to think that we are slipping down with Swansea, NUFC, Hudds and the Hammers at the moment.
Agree with his. Simply not the right man for this club. And I didn't switch my vote during the upturn in form either. Puel going was the wrong decision. Anyone with even a slight sense of perspective could see that at the time. The man simply knows what he's doing. Pellegrino going I think would be the right decision, but very happy to give him until the end of the season - infact, think we probably should, if no one else is around. We won't go down, nor can anyone else new take us much higher. Everton, Leicester, Watford etc. is the next mini-league above us now, and breaking away. We're with Huddersfield, Brighton, Bournemouth etc.
Slight overreaction there. Have you seen the dross down there (who play like we did tonight most weekends)?
Its not really an over-reaction when you look at our results though. Of the 'dross down there' we managed to beat West ham and Palace. I don't really think we are that much better. Potentially better yes, but many things will need sorting before we can look down our noses at the bottom of the table IMO.
SaintinNZ your reaction is so over the top. There are.and will be, at least 3 teams worse than us. This is just 1 loss albeit a bit embarrassing and our next fixture is tricky but lets not forget its a very long season and it would be crazy to talk about relegation now. I'm pissed off as well but lets get carried away.
Confused as to how your response relates to my post mate? I’ve been pretty consistent with my position/concerns.
We aren't relegation favourites by any stretch, but I don't think it can be dismissed out of hand, either. We have 1 win in 8, and 2 in 12...a loss against Chelsea would see us drop to a point a match with nearly half the season played. As was the case last year, our shortcomings are masked somewhat by that of the clubs still below us in the table, but any time you're this deep into this season and on pace for 40 points or fewer, it's a consideration. And up to us to change that over the next month to avoid being genuine contenders...the home matches against Huddersfield, Palace and Brighton in the next six weeks are tremendously important.
Watched the game and all I can say is, what happened to the team that beat Leicester and drew away last season, and I cannot blame Redmond for the first time in awhile as he was on the bench. I am lost for words and ideas of how we turn this **** around. But as my sister always say's, hey ho no one died! BTW Virgil is not happy
Yeah sorry mate I was just thinking out loud so to speak and quoted you as we've held a similar position.
