Looks like I've missed another round of Wembley busparquet. Shall I just look at a clip of the Aurier goal and skip MOTD ??
I know we have to balance our efforts, but we still don’t get that right. This wasn’t ‘considered and controlled’ it was slow and ponderous - and it ended in an unedifying spectacle. Yes we won, but that was as dire as it gets.
Ha ha, I was doing an RCL (albeit not the one we have seen recently) I am well happy to be back in the top four. However it’s gutting to be 7 points behind such a poor side as Man United
I really thought Chris would give it a go especially in the second half. But maybe the thought of receiving another thrashing in quick succession was indeed too much.
Poor again but the second half was so much worse first. Really need to sort ourselves out. If Sissoko starts against City we might well get beaten in the double digits. I like the energy he brings but if you can't look comfortable on the ball against Brighton then you really aren't good enough for a top half side, let alone one that wants to finish top 4. Not that the rest were much better, Rose and Aurier were terrible again.
I didn't think Aurier did too badly. Certainly had a decent first half but seemed to struggle playing with a 'new' player in front of him (Lamela). Overall though I agree, a shadow of what Walker gave us and it'll be a few years until we see something similar (if ever). Rose can piss off next month as far as I'm concerned. He's been back from injury for over a month now yet seems to get slower and more clueless with each passing game. When you look at how quickly Lamela, with a double operation and 14 months out, has managed to settle back in, it makes you wonder. Winks had a terrible, terrible game. There was one point where the crowd was really getting on his back which surprised me. Chastening for the youngster but you live and learn at this level. Eriksen was equally as bad if not worse. Set pieces are a massive concern. The fact that we saw 3 different players taking corners from the left side (Eriksen, Lamela and Rose) tells us all we need to know about Poch's lack of trust in anyone for this department at the minute. Crucial 3 points given results elsewhere but City away is going to be...interesting to say the least.
Was very surprised and disappointed that a Chris Hughton team played like WBA. They were boring beyond belief Expected an entertaining match from them
Man, that was a tough watch. If I hadn't had a padded seat and a cup holder in Club Wembley, I might have left early. I haven't read the previous posts, as yet, but I got the distinct impression that the players were under orders to play within themselves and to exert as little energy as possible in advance of meeting Citeh. I'm struggling to recall a more pedestrian game in recent seasons. It was AVB on heavy medication. First order of the day - don't do anything to risk giving the ball away. Second order - retain possession and pass forwards as little as possible. Third order - [Sorry by this point I'd lost all heart and interest and fallen asleep]. Sonny tried hard and Rose and Aurier, goal apart, were bloody awful again. If I see Aurier go wrong side to nick the ball and miss it by a bloody mile again, I'll spontaneously combust. Let's hope we get something from Saturday to make that worthwhile........
Missed the match, slept at 18:00, set the alarm for 21:55 (we are 2 hours in front here ) . The alarm woke me up and I turned the television on. Slept at 21:58. Sounds like it wasn't a bad move. Next up Citeh, sounds like most of the guys had a good rest last night so up, up and away. Boy could we use Crouch and Defoe on Saturday.
