They seem to be the norm in books, movies, tv shows, etc. These rambunctious office Xmas parties. Are they real though? Has anyone been to one. I've had seven different employers, and other than being taken out to lunch at a restaurant during the work day as a team, or a white elephant gift exchange... Or just food given during the work day in one manner or another, I've never had an office party. Not one like on TV anyway. Are they real or a figment of Hollywood's imagination? One company I worked at would hire a room at the zoo where hors d'oeuvre were served and we got to walk around the zoo with our families after work. That's about the most exciting Xmas work party I've experienced. Anyone work(ed) somewhere with a wild Xmas do?
my old company did some wild ones. Heard stories about them but i never got to go as i wasn't a permanant employee. Unlimited booze, bands/artists hired (LMFAO, tiny tempah, girls aloud) and at nice venues to (natural history museum, etc). Shananigans too (people have affairs etc).
Went out with a girl who worked for the Deutch Bank, back in the mid eighties. The Christmas party wouldn't have been out of place in the movies etc. I personally witnessed two couples having sex almost in public.
Been to some epic ones, never invite partners as the wives always kick off. Tear gas being used by the filth at one event was a notable highlight
I felt like that last Saturday. Turns out borderline Flu, two bottles of cheap red wine, six pints of Peroni and half a dozen Lambert and Butler does that to you!
I can’t blame any kind of illness. It was purely down to the booze. Had to travel to Brussels the next day. Cars and trains for hours. Didn’t need that.
I had to put the ****ing tree and outside lights up! It was a grim day. My eventual respite was a half time hair of the dog!
I had an office party three years back, got all the catering in, beers spirits etc and no **** turned up! Sometimes being a self employed one man band sucks.
My lot are going for a Christmas do this weekend which I'll miss due to being at a wedding. Not arsed really tbh, most people I work with aren't really my people tbh and I just get bored so get stupidly wrecked and end up pissing someone off.
The team I work with are in ok the moment but I won't stay out long with them for similar reasons, I'll get insulting after a few drinks with the ones I don't like.
Office parties are the best! Doesn't have to be just Christmas. Mid-term, Halloween. All class. Guaranteed to be at least one fight and there's always people bucking each other and having affairs. Never had tear gas fired, but I was at one that got raided for drugs and 11 people, were caught with and arrested for, possession of cocaine We nearly got our office closed down for that.
I worked in the City as a trader in the 80’s and the shenanigans of Wolf of Wall Street don’t even start to compare. Every possible excess was abused and all at the company’s expense ! Unlimited drink and drugs and copious amounts of uninhibited females were all supplied. What riotous times they were.
