    Looking for recommendations for a good Rum. I usually get a bottle of Diplomatico in for Christmas, but fancy something different this year. There were a few suggestions on another thread, but I can't remember where it was. I think somebody suggested Don Papa.

    Anyway, give me your best recommendations for a nice drop, it needn't necessarily be Rum.

    Personal preferences are spirits that are smooth with a nice bite. Don't like peat smoked whiskeys, and not keen on overly sweet spiced drinks either.

    Quite partial to a nice Cognac too. Had a lovely bottle of Remy Martin last year.

    I'm not a brandy person, but a bottle of XO is as smooth as it gets. Mind it'll knock you back over 70 quid.
