He started by saying “fans and club” I think it’s clear a large chunk of fans didn’t give him a chance.
To be fair, you arent wrong. Im not sure it was loads of fans, and the football was pretty **** from Dec-May...
Wrong thread but if we’re detailIng, then March to May. Jan and Feb were pretty good. I stand by loads of fans. I was there when fans were booing in the first few games just because he was doing something different to what they’d been used to. They were a disagrave in my view. Anyway, back to the game.... Come On Saints!! I’m supposed to be going but it doesn’t look like my foot is going to be up to it
Agreed - I thought we were good the first couple of games, could see a plan at least. Whats up with your clodhopper?
Took a whack playing football (I know; too old) couple of weeks back... still hurts and thought it may have had a fracture. Turns out that the knock triggered a gout attack (I’ve suffered previously, but not for a while) ... struggling to walk and a long drive may be a “no”
I think the fans treated him badly. I was ashamed to be a Saints fan after he got booed leading the team out on the ironically titled "lap of appreciation" after the 0-1 loss to Stoke at the end of the season.
Sounds painful, but you know that Gout is meant to be the rich man's disease Also those that drink a lot of wine get it. Normally red wine. I'm still an Italian red short though To get back on topic, I am going for 2-2 with them equalising in the last minute.
Like I said above, club not fans. I agree sections of the fanbase did chant abuse. I think most felt indifferent. My feeling is that he did ok but wasn’t quite right for us (and we weren’t quite right for him). Failure in Europe cost him. Still don’t see any evidence of the club treating him badly.
Sorry to hear that, Fats! Hope it clears up soon. Thanks for the offer of your ticket, pity I can’t make it
The whole process of getting rid of him wasn't good. He was gone in March and everyone knew, so we gave up for the rest of the season. If the other story about Reed giving the squad a chewing is true, it's strange that the opposite happened last year when Bertrand and co didn't like Puel. I never worked out what he was supposed to have done wrong and the club were probably happy to let the fans be vaguely unhappy at him for anything bad last year. I guess out of everyone, Puel came out of it the least bad, which is why he'll be back tomorrow. I've criticised and praised Reed in the same day now, that is true sandal wearing.
Didn't someone say that Puel was offered the chance to stay, but he had to be prepared to change style. If that is true, I suspect he would see it as interference and would rather accept a pay off. That of course is supposition based on rumour.
