Surely if Ashley wanted more money then keeping Carroll made more sense

We all know it is only a matter of time before Ashley tries to sell the club again. He isn't liked by the fans and he has tried to jump ship numerous times over the last few years. With Carroll as our main asset, and with a bid of 35m rejected he could simply just raise the valuation of the club to include that. If we had finished 8th or 9th with Carroll then he definitely could have sold the club for a lot more than he can when we don't have Carroll and end up 11th-17th. Hopefully the money is invested wisely into young talent rather than all in one go in to some overrated player.

The problem with Ashley is he only can see short term he can't see the bigger picture. 35 million in his pocket short term he's rubbing his hands. When you think about it long term he will be losing out

    * There'll be quite a few fans who won't renew season tickets next year as a result of this and other blunders he's made this season
    * Carroll is now a shoe in when fit for all future England squads, so we've just sold Englands #9 for the next ten years and all the free publicity that goes with that
    * We stand to lose around about 1 million for every place we finish lower in the league and again for every place higher we go we gain 1 million. Without Carrolls goals, assists and all round play are we really going to be able to make it to the top half of the premiership when Ameobi is leading the line?

Who's to say that Carroll would of kept this form up, especially if he wanted to go. Then through this he would lose value, plus the summer market is generally cheaper than january

I agree with you mate! <ok> He's also out injured, so who knows what will happen. In my eyes, if we're still in the Premier League next season then this is a good deal.
