I take your point's BSG. However I feel we may have to agree to disagree!

Just out of interest who would you sign if you were Hess (take into account our already stretched budget!)

No problems Luke, the world would be a much more boring place if we all agreed. It is just nice to have a debate without the insults and name calling that would have occurred on the old 606.

To answer your question, I don't know. You may have seen my previous attempts to search the unattached list proved fruitless, due to the list not being up to date (Kabba would be a great signing though). Lisbie would be worth a shout but I think the better bet would be scour the loan market, maybe see if Hendon can send us down a young upcoming striker. I admit that is more of a risk, but I would rather take a risk on an unknown player than one who I don't think is up to the task (i.e. Brandy)

Well I must say this very grown up! People not calling each other names, what is the world coming too! However I do agree maybe if hess uses the loan market maybe we could get a player who is more experience but just out of favor? Maybe a bit like McLeod was at Charlton before joining Barnet?

don't know why it's so hard to think about...without a doubt a prolific striker is what will be needed alongside kedwell!

apparently we were offered a player from west ham, who's now on loan at notts county (can't remember his name), hess said he wasn't for us though...hence at county now!

I can certainly see why Brandy is mentioned by so many fans on this subject. Personally I'd like to see him back and that he is the kind of player we need. He has pace and that scares defenders especially at this level. He seemed to win penalties every game when he was with us last time and with Kedders smashing them in seems like a winning formula to me :D

I liked Brandy as well, but I read a few weeks ago that he had gone to Timberland something or other wherever they are. A poster has put on Gills365 that Byfield has changed his profile photo on Twitter, to one of him in a Gills shirt. Could this be significant?

Probably just feels it is a photo that best displays his "good side".

    thats the guy gfclukey cheers.

gemini as you say regards brandy that he seems to win penalties very easilly for the team...he had a good football school for those sort of things (man utd), cheat there way to anything...they try anything to get a win and the refs fall for it...along with that drunken scot, who should be done left, right and center by the fa...thats another subject though! :emoticon-0120-doh:

Not United's greatest fan by any chance Oxon???

Brandy looked Ok for us, but in a very poor Gills side at the time a monkey would have looked Ok for us. Having said that I wouldn't be against him returning, same goes with Byfield. Lisbie would however be first choice for me (apart from Cody of course)

I think if this is true it could be very significant! Why I hear you cry? Mainly because he left the club back in 2006! I wouldn't put my profile picture on Facebook as a picture from 5 years ago! Unless it was for a reason. There are three options here -

    1) He has joined the club and is getting ready to make it official.

    2) He is trying to drop a hint to Hess that he would like to rejoin the club.

    3) He is trying to show other potential club's that he has played in higher league's before and can do it again.

Or this guy was lying about Byfield changing his picture!

Sorry to be annoying but can anyone find Byfield twitter page?

Exciting stuff, on his day Byfield was deadly in front of goal. Obviously there are question marks over his attitude but hopefully now he is a few years older and more level-headed

Byfield a goal every 3.9 but over his last 56 games its 6.4 which suggest he is in decline and is also the same as Brandy
    Lisbie is 5.2
Perhaps none of the strikers with the exception of Cody are prolific enough which is why Hess seems to be cooling the idea he is looking

right i think we need to knock this prolific thing on the head. any decent prolific striker available on a free transfer or even placed on the loan market will have been snapped up ages ago, unless they are being unreasonable in their wage demands, their expectation of what level they should play at, are in decline or have massive off the field issue so that people dont want to touch them with a barge poll.

the only way we are going to get a prolific striker in is to look at the non league and see if there are any goal scorers like kedwell and birchall who have agreements with their clubs that if a league/higher club come in for them they are allowed to go. then we offer to take them on loan with a decent sum payable due to appearances or goals scored etc. this solves the problem of having no money atm as we wouldnt have to pay until next summer or jan given the loan lenght, ok this maybe more high risk but i think we could be better off than signing (no offence to them) but whats left of the free agents which are likely to be trash

The difference between Byfield and Bandy is that at least Byfield has proven he can score goals even if his record isn't great recently

For me Byfield brings back too many bad memories of the Jepson era. He never really looked like he cared about the club... why should he care any more now? Also he's passed it - prolific-ness going down. At least Brandy has his best years ahead of him (hopefully!).

When Brandy was at Gills he looked better than Jackson but his scoring record is quite poor, would defently sigh him till christmas then see if he deserves longer.
