Maybe so, but at the minute he seems like teflon to me, everyone thinks he's a great keeper, answer to our prayers, 'unbeatable' is a phrase used on another thread BUT he still let in three goals????

Like I said, I don't think any keeper could have done anything about those three. What's more worrying, is the way we just threw the towel in after the first goal.

It was only to be expected, the team was set out for a draw, Harry as good as said so much in his post match spiel.

Whats more worrying is that he thinks one or two 'characters' will make us a top four side - or at least be challenging for that position.

Characters, i'm guessing, are the likes of AnyBuyer and FREEdel, or Joe Cole & Scott Parker, or heaven help us - Joey Barton.

He really is Wet Spam through and through is our Manager.

So long as he knows how to score some goals, I couldn't care less what his name is, TBH, mate. Barton - definitely, no thanks. Parker - I don't think we really need him longer term,; but, at least he wouldn't have just rolled over, the way most of our lot did tonight.

He did plenty of rolling over last term did Parker - went missing for a fair few of the Wet Spam games (though it was glossed over because he's a media and fan favourite!)

Barton's a feisty little twat but he definitely won't roll over, unfortunately his level means he is more likely to be off the field than on it most of the time.

And no player is guaranteed to get goals, however certain players are guaranteed to bring baggage with them, as well as a chip the size of Ayers Rock on their shoulders.

First half although even, Uniteds keeper had to make more saves than Brad, shame they were comfortably straight at him, a fact ignored by Neville in his drivel at HT. Second half, BF was busier, and the goal had the usual deflating effect. A shame taking Livermore off for me, but to be fair he was knackered doing all the chasing, (my god do we miss Sandro!) Hudd and Krancjar are the last pair you want in the middle when you're defending. Had Defoe capitalised on De Goofs flap at that cross and not hit the post, at 2-1 it may have raised spirit and been a different last 15mins, instead of the 'waiting for the whistle' that we saw. Fair play to United, good goals made and taken very well.

We're paying the price for being too timid in last summer's transfer window. We should have got the right players in when we were able to offer Champions League football. The net result probably would have been a less embarassing result against Real Madrid, another top 4 finish, some more decent players this time round and not throwing the towel in against a team of kids missing their first choice centre back pairing. With Man City's resources it was imperative that we consolidated when we had the chance. Too bloody late now

Hi, Saints fan here. I thought you matched United for an hour and your midfield was doing well. I thought that the changes bringing on Huddlestone and Pavlychenko opened you up to be honest. You will get stronger with Diarra and Adebeyor.

    WHAT? no we won't.

Diarra is not half the player that people think he is, and he's been rusting at RM for the past couple of seasons.

AnyBuyer is so damn good that the blue Mancs are willing to pay to get rid of him, yet not even Jose will fall for that, and he rates him!

    JEEESUSSS!!!!

Why single out my post?, it doesn't differ from yours, I did watch the game, so nothing needed from you.

Who's despondant?, you have me mistaken for someone else. I'd put a laugh smiley on the end...but like your post, theirs nothing funny in it. <ok>

NO PNP - goddamn thats an insult and a half, would rather be called a complete ****!

I'm just really really annoyed that people think the likes of the players we're supposedly getting in will take us to the next level, they won't, they're the sort of players that we should have been thinking about last summer to maintain our position in the CL (as somebody said previously)

Now we need to rebuild, not go the Harry route of bringing in old faces - we won't get into the CL this season with FREEdel, AnyBuyer and Diarra. We'll be lucky to get back into Europe. So either sign 3 top players for a ****load to do that, or don't bother with them & build a team for the following season now, go all out for the likes of Leandro, Shaqiri (sp?), Pjanic, Marin et al.

I'd prefer one season out of the limelight stabilising, consolidating and then challenging 2012-2013 to the false dawn that a season with cast-offs and rejects will bring under Harry before he sods off to take charge of England.

To be honest, I didn't expect us to get much there. I was pleasantly surprised how we played for the first hour. All we have really learnt is that we need more steel in midfield and a striker who can play with his back to goal. Nothing we didn't already know. I fully expect the goons to get battered in a similar fashion on Sunday.

Pleasantly surprised that we didn't take advantage of a weakened red Manc defence? or pleaseantly surprised that we weren't battered earlier considering how the game started?

The team containing Niko, Hudd, and Pav were over-ran by Bilbao in our last friendly, thats a quarter of the team not pulling its weight, or just **** defensively, a weird decision to then put these 3 on together against United...self destruct for me.

From here, we need to get a couple in and a few back to fitness.

Pleasantly surprised that we weren't handed our own arses after 5 minutes, owing to the makeshift, toothless side we put out. We have sent far better sides there and been taken apart by "weakened" Manc sides.

Fella, it is 1 game; a game that form and history says we were unlikely to win. We didn't. There are 37 more games to go, don't peak too early with the "we're all doomed" posts. It's a long season.

Agreed. Also with NSIS' first post.

We looked lively at the start of the second half. Friedel did very well, commanded the area but we got caught off gaurd by two excellent balls into the box. Something however, yet again was missing no one played particularly poorly but upfront we still somehow conspired to waste opportunites and at the back we still let them in on a few occasions and in the end our midfield faded badly also.

LDL, as ever was way off the mark in anything Tottenham related, as was OODB.

To be fair, only one started, the subs were a last roll of the dice as we'd conceded and promptly lost any grip on the game. If we hadn't brought on another striker then 'Arry would've been slated for that, with Crouch injured that didn't leave us much option. As for Hoddlestone, our midfield was knackered and he was our only other vaguely fit centre mid.

I have been reading the gloom and doom.
Yes we have been soundly beaten, but it was Man U and they look like a team that has been together a long time.
Us we looked like we were affected by the Modric saga.
One thing I noticed was Bale when he was in a position to cross had no one to cross to, Lennon really needs to get his head up and look where he is going it's fine to beat the fullback but if you don't look up who are you going to cross to.
We looked like we rolled over because they had too much pace and teamwork for us to cope with.

But they haven't been, the back line consisted of three ****ing kids compared to ours.

At the end of it all, they were mediocre and we were WORSE!
