The only thing for the EFL clubs is that the PL bribed them to get their own way, as usual. Despite widespread anger from the fans of said clubs. But most clubs don't care about fans views. A couple of clubs gauged fans views before this season as to whether they should vote in favour of continuing the existing format. Despite a unanimous view against from the fans, the club still voted in favour of it. Fans are just an inconvenient necessity for most clubs.

Landed himself a plum job at saints with an embarrassing amount of riches at his disposal for both league one and the championship.
Yet managed to fall short on both occasions....coming second.
    Nauseating,cliche riddled press conferences.
Been Found out since leaving....he’s poor.....and will be again at Hull.
He achieved the bare minimum he should have at Southampton.
The way people hold him in some messiah like status is quite embarrassing.
    I wish him well however.

I don't think people see Nigel as a messiah. He was the right person for us at the time...remember Cortese (and others probably) selected him to get us up the leagues over a more experienced manager in Pardew. And we suited him....because he had top players to work with. It would have been great to finish top in each league (as we all knew we were actually the best team in League 1 and the Championship at the time), but I didn't feel any less happy on both promotion days and it hasn't made an ounce of difference since then. As for his interviews, many of us enjoyed them and just passed them off as being 'typical Nigel'.....you can get away with a lot when you are successful. And to top it off, Nigel is a genuinely nice bloke. What is not to like? He probably left at the right time for his hero status....though I think it was a shame that he didn't get one whole season in the EPL as I don't think we'd have got relegated.

Yes, he has been found out at subsequent jobs, but I would like to suggest that there are plenty of teams that top managers would fail at as well. Wish him success at Hull.

Remind me, how many clubs have gained back to back promotions? He did a brilliant job at Saints getting us promoted from the Championship and was doing fine in the Premier League. He may not be everyone's cup of tea with his clichés etc but any Saints fan who says he did anything other than a brilliant job here is prejudiced against him. I hope it works out for him at Hull.

He got Scunthorpe promoted on a shoestring budget.......so is he a poor manager? No.

Saint lard sounds like the Portsmouth fans who are claiming Kenny Jackett is a crap manager because we're not walking League 1, despite him having gotten two teams promoted and having to rebuild the team because of having an aging squad last season.

I'm not sure we thought we were the best team in the Championship until a good few months in Fran! In fact, I think we all pinched ourselves after that opening day mauling of the much fancied Leeds. I certainly didn't have us pencilled in for promotion. As Tom said, back to back promotions are very rare and Nigel deserves all the kudos we heap upon him.

I meant towards the end of the season....I was very nervous before the Leeds match. A Pompey fan I worked with told me that the Championship was tough.....after the match, I told him (with a laugh) that the Championship was a doddle. Bravado at the time....but I soon realised just how good our players were at that level.

Jozy Altidore scored the winning goal as Toronto won the MLS championship.

I don't particularly care about the MLS, but thought that it was newsworthy that Jozy Altidore scored a goal.

Yesterday afternoon, as we all know, the greatest club and team on the planet beat Sevilla 5-0. As wonderful and breathtaking that said side are, Sevilla given their status in La Liga and as a good side in European competition should not be losing 5-0 even to RM. The goals were shown on TV later, and for the first goal two Madrid forwards were left unmarked on the goalline. Go to Youtube and watch the five goals and tell me, that Sevilla were really putting in a shift? I don't think they were.
