just so everyone realises.... if all things are equal... i.e. take city's stellar form out of this league. (city have 43 points from 15 = 108 points level currently).... LFC are 6-8 points off the top of the table and in the pack. Its not bad but the issues are not REALLY about firmino and that.. not really... by that i mean if you drop a worldie striker in there right now are we REALLY going to score many more goals than now? The issues IMO are where everyone says they are. at the back and midfield solidity. Getting more consistent shape and decision making, more height on set plays and defenders who don't panic and make simple errors. LFC need midfielders who understand position better and don't chase off anywhere but know their position relative to the ball and where they need to be. LFC needs CBs who can win ball aerially but also keep good positions goal side and not lose players. lfc needs a keeper who not only stops shots but commands his box and comes out and deals with things.
fair enough like... coutinho is far better than he was in 2013/14 and he was on the bench in quite a bit of that 11 game winning streak. sterling was chasing about suarez was awesome sturrdige follows suarez lead in runs. Now we've mane deep and breaking fast. salah looking for the exact sort of runs suarez loved. absolutely smashing them in. firmino working hard Coutinho just pulling strings.
You also need to take into account how #bentasfuck the refs are Suarez had to deal with Webb himself going in two footed on him
but.. hang on you are always complaining about refs now and were not in 2013/14.... surely this point favours the player now in having refs bring corrupt as a rule now. whereas all Everton fans would tell you the amount of pens we got in 2013/14 suggests they were on our side
Nope 2013/14 was the most #bentasfuck Sterling given offside when 20 yards onside whereas Man City were allowed 5 blatantly offside goals to stand at home. On the other hand we aren't currently challenging for the title so we'd need to see how the refs raised their game if we were. But they'd have to work harder since they can't rely on Suarez's reputation to wave away him being wiped out right in front of them. Brighton showed us the refs are still working against us were he handed them a penalty for literally nothing in the hope it would inspire a Seville-like comeback.
To be fair. Suarez brought it on himself. He did dive and bend rules so often he got himself a reputation so that refs always assumed he was guilty even when he wore a halo and shat rainbows.
We've just had Clattencunt openly admit he was #bentasfuck now that he's earned enough tax-free money from human rights abusers he can afford to retire BTW is this^ libellous @Tobes ?
BSL..........Balmer, Stubbins, Liddell...............would love to go back and watch them tear defences apart
Football is about teamwork, and individualism is secondary. As part of that team, Firmino is actually more important to that front four than any one of the other three.
I can understand the criticism that Bobby gets because sometimes the game can pas him by, and he can go missing. But as others have mentioned, he is an integral part of the system because he creates the space for Mane and Salah to run into. He’s got goals and assists, and that’s by playing a new position. His best position is as a number 10, playing off a natural striker.
You do wonder whether if you did stick a Harry Kane type up top for us, whether we'd see a drop off in goals/contributions from the other players.
Players like Kane and Lukaku add no extra goals to a side they just serve as a focus that is more easily cut out.
He is a very good player, but hes not all that. Would much rather have an Aguero, Jesus, Suarez type striker
There's a difference between hitting a good run of form in a 15 game period and being the premier league's top scorer in the 2 previous seasons though. Although after today I believe Kane is on the same amount of goals as Salah?
I think if Kane played for us we'd be hailing him as one of the best strikers in the world, I think its nonsense to say he's not all that when he's outscored Aguero, and every other premier league player, over the last 2 seasons.
No chance. Have you seen any of his goals? He just hangs around the 6 yard box hoping the ball falls to him. If you need to fall asleep try watching a compilation like this one:
