I don't claim to be a fan of KR (but in the case of a takeover I would prefer him to stay) but today seemed like just another page in the book of 'learned from our mistakes'. We have a selection of important injuries, plus we have succeded in burning out Mag. Robinson is now in the position that Luzon, Peeters and Riga all hit. There is never any squad depth, and when injuries kick in, the youngsters are expected to fill in. Generally we destroy the youngsters as part of the process. I felt from following updates that KR should have shaken things up sooner, but he has been sold down the river. Given the possible sale rumours, I don't see Roland sacking a manager and paying him off. Neither do I see investment in january. Mid table beckons.
He's too wedded to 4-2-3-1 with Magennis up front. It wasn't working, and he has no plan B. Magennis didn't play that role for Kilmarnock, and he doesn't play it for Northern Ireland. Did we have one good flowing attack? We relied on runs by Holmes and DaSilva or long hopeful punts up the park. And Robinson is the manager so he takes responsibility.
I wasn’t there, and I can’t say I missed it. Given the circumstances we might have expected the players to puff their chests out & put on a performance. We were playing Portsmouth, not Man City. I posted 6 months ago that Robinson is a one trick pony, without a doubt he has been found out.
Think big Mag needs to have a word with himself. He thought he was worth a certain amount in the summer, and he’s not even close to that figure right now. Nothing to do with the OG. I just think that his work rate is a bit of a myth.
He was pretty static. Knackered or poor? Just not cut out for the role, most of the balls he received were head height , coming down from a great height. Maybe he was just obeying instructions. Made no impact whatever the cause.
Make that 9,998 Charlton fans. The attendance was artificially swelled by freebies in the Directors Box. Fans who don’t pay week to week
