A win that will secure Clements job I'm afraid, though there was very good play from Ki, Mesa, Bony, and Narsingh, we really should be starting with Narsingh he is a talented and quick winger, who can deliver quality in the box, probably won't see him again knowing clueless Clement..........<ok>

    Citeh next!!!!!!!!!...................<laugh>

    Just got back in.

In fairness, Clement went for it today, going with width, and when it was still 0-0 basically going for it with 2 strikers and 2 wingers.

Fortune favoured the brave and we deserved the 3 points.

That said, we still don't really look like scoring and make very few genuine goal scoring opportunities. We certainly need a minimum of one creative midfielder and a winger in January.

We also felt that the players certainly gave - or attempted to give - 100% today and certainly gave every indication that they were playing for the Manager. Seems like Jason Levein's appearance today was a wasted journey...... That said he was in deep conversation with Tosh......

Mawson, Mesa, Van der Hoorn and Dyer did well. Bony, Ki & Olsson battled strongly and Carroll performed better than of late.

Routledge was largely off the pace - old age or lack of match practice?

Whilst Bony hit the goal, huge credit must go to Tammy who drew the defence's attention, and battled so the ball fell free to Wilf. Yes, Tammy should have scored late on, but he really should have passed to Narsingh who was free with an empty net in front of him.

Citeh on Wednesday is a "free pass"; Everton is difficult but a point is not beyond us; must beat Palace on the 23rd.

Two poor relegation bound sides i'm afraid that papers over the cracks today.....With man city ,Everton and Liverpool matches coming up then we will be back at the bottom before we know it.......Unimpressed with Clement and the players again and not good enough to ever get to safety with a string of results in our favour .....

You had to bet £5. If Swansea won (which you did), you get back £5 on Swanseas normal price 13/8, and the rest is credited as free bets. Run of the mill, new customer offer.

Congratulations on the win today, it keeps you in with a chance.

Levein was in the second row of the Home Directors Box, sitting alongside Tosh.

I guess that he was there to deliver the coup de grace on Clement if we hadn't won........

Great 3 points but a shockingly poor game until the final 10 minutes.
Clement started with four players short on game time and it showed, with only Mesa making a statement.
Only two pieces of quality in the first half, ironically both from Routledge.
Fab - not so fab. didn't communicate with his defence and his distribution was all over the place.
Naughton - passes going astray, like most of the player until the 75th minute, could have cost us. Routinely took the ball forward only to stop or play it backwards.
MVdH - solid and pick of he back four
Mawson - wobbly but did week in most arial battles. A few nice pieces of football but only to get himself out of the mess he'd created. Lucky to get away with some short passes across the back or to Fab.
Olson - didn't gel with Routledge and was pedestrian.
Carroll - another game to forget. (At one point the only excitement in our area was 'will Carroll clear the first defender?' It stopped being funny when he shot into the wall.)
Nathan - looked effective without offering anything much. Looked short of match practice.
Routledge - short of match practice and lost the ball more even more than the players around him but why keep him on the left?? Hit the post and put the ball on Mawson's head - when he drifted across to the right. Defended well - not you want from a winger but Olson and Mawson seemed totally unconnected.
Ki - played further forward and came alive towards the end of the second half as didi a few others. An improved performance.
Bony - as lone striker he was pretty much marked out of the game until Ayew came on, then he took control . Possibly the hardest hit shot for three years gave us the win.
Mesa - can not understand why I'm seeing negative posts about this little general. Bossed so much and didn't any nonsense. Every ball bar one got to it's target, not once did he slow things down and always looked to go forward. Given how poor so many players were and have sen this was, for me, the only quality performance of the afternoon.

Ayew - had an impact and perhaps should be considered more as an impact sub.
Narsignh - provided a foil for others and created spaces for them to exploit.
Tammy - too late to make a difference. Once again willing. Should have scored or passed but a striker will almost always go for goal himself in those situations & he's a development player who lacks experience.

Clement - got lucky IMO. WBA created nothing and looked less likely to score than us.
    He still has to go.

Agreed Dai. That said there are some poor teams in the PL this season. I can't say I was overly impressed with Huddersfield, Newcastle or Brighton when they played here - yet we only beat Huddersfield and lost to the other two. Indicates how poor we are.

Additionally, Watford were there for the taking - given that they were coming to us straight after a 0-6 thrashing at home by Citeh - but Clement's negative tactics in the first half cost us the match.

Ifs buts and maybes I know, but if we'd beaten Newcastle, Brighton & (only) drawn with Watford we'd be quite comfortable now.

The facts are we didn't and the Yanks need to invest in (early) January if we are to have a chance of staying in the PL.

Yesterday's win was crucial - defeat would have seen us almost cut adrift. The victory gave us 3 vital points and will hopefully prove a confidence booster.
