    We were dire.
The goals were just lucky both ways.

I didn’t see a lot positive at all. Midfield is pedestrian.

even years ago when City were in lower divisions I felt that the players then were a lot better than they are now

Good performance overall and we looked good value for it eventually. Thought we actually defended alright and the two goals flattered them. Likewise us only scoring 3 seemed unjust.

Clark and Meyler seem to be getting a bit of stick which I think is unfair. Meyler particularly, he kept winning the ball back and restarting attacks after Brentford clearances and he deserves credit for that. I'm still not convinced by Stewart although admittedly I haven't seen much of him, but from what I have seen give me Meyler any day. I like Larsson in midfield. You can see he's been there and done it and he's a leader. Excellent free kick too. Won by Meyler completely dominating their lad in the tackle, I hasten to add.

Grosicki drove me mad today. Apart from the cross where Campbell hit the bar he ****ed up every opportunity to do his job as a wide man. Never beat his man or got a decent ball in. Yet he goes and scores a belter. It's almost like he's not a winger but a long-distance goal specialist.

Campbell is Campbell. The ideal striker at this level. You know what you're getting every week with him. Toral always looks good to me. Dicko I normally like but he didn't do enough when he came on and that miss was terrible.

Disagree. First we were solid and looked stronger with Mazuch.
Second half we went down to a bad goal but came back and dominated hem scoring three goals.
We were undone by a free kick that was a blatant dive.
We then gritted our teeth and held on when we would have given in only a weeks ago.

    Well done Nigel.

Oh and that looked like a nasty elbow from the ginger lad which lad to Meyler going off. Larsson was furious. Dave still won the header of course.

    Get in.

In other good news, West Ham beat Chelsea.

Normally I wouldn't care about that, but they won because that useless ****ing cockwomble Hart was on the bench. Hopefully he'll not play again this season, and won't be selected as first choice for England.

    You Ull.

There was a massive difference towards the end of the game. Nigel didn’t let us sit back. He stuck two strikers on and shouted and screamed at the players to get back up the pitch. He didn’t want us anywhere near our goal at 3-2 and he religiously drove us forward.

I noticed how he was constantly in the fourth official’s ear at every decision too.

Second half was a really good performance but we still look significantly poorer when Campbell goes off. Irvine and Toral had their best performances in a City shirt second half.

Meyler seemed completely out of it. The game constantly passing him by and Larsson effectively had two jobs to do.

Mazuch is an absolute beast and his performance was epitomised by his final tackle of the game when he took out two Brentford players and Dawson, winning the back and clearing it in our box.

Ye thought that too. He was a right footed Quinny, neat and tidy player.

The ref was appalling, their second goal the player dived theatrically to win the free kick.
That twat with the blonde hair wants a good slap.
I though in the last few minutes of injury time he was going to give a penalty to them.

Some ****wit called Richard rang into Humberside at 5.40pm. What a thicko- hope it's no one on here. Embarrassing criticism of some of our players. Half expect it to be Charon.

Clark did ok until his injury. Some bright passages of play in the second half. Dicko should have done better with his chance.

Agree with PLT Mazuch and Dawson look a much better pairing at centre half - lots of talking and organising between those two and the younger full backs. Means Dawson doesn't have to be relied on for the babysitting role.

We must focus on being switched on at set pieces. Their free kick which resulted in the 2nd for Brentford we just ball watched after an excellent save from McGregor. Giving away cheap goals is a real issue.

Not for the faint hearted at the end but would take that Sprited attacking show any day and of the week. Crazy how we score so many goals but not anywhere near those top 6 places..yet.

Have to disagree with you about Clark mate. Thought he was awful. Hoof.
Aina doesn't appear to understand where he should be. Made some good challenges at the end though.
    Tomoris distribution is poor too.

Just realized their keeper was the kid from Southend Brucey wanted to sign a couple of years ago. Did Ehab pull the plug on that one too?
    He's very good.

I said it on here post Slutsky sacking, that I think all the perm signings, bar Dicko unfortunately, will work out as good signings once bedded in/managed well.

Are you surprised re Aina? I wonder if anyone has ever played right wing and then left back in the same game? Especially when you are a right back by trade.

Made some decent defensive contributions - that's his primary job. If he was making good passes but defending poorly, that would be much more concerning.

I thought it was a game of two completely different halves. First half was a hangover from the previous regime. Second half was a different animal. Toral made the difference in the second half, he was unlucky to get the ball stuck under his feet twice but he is a great playmaker. Meyler was pedestrian for most of the game, though his pass to start the move off for one of the goals was good. I'd drop him next game for Toral, Larsson was much improved so can stay for me (although man of the match was a bit far, Mazuch was MOTM for me).
One thing that I hope Adkins can fix is the tempo, it didn't kick in until the 60th minute. Before that everything was so slow. Can't wait to see Huddlestone pinging passes all over the park on Boxing Day.
