I've had addictions to both mate and will happily say drink was worse for me without doubt, and having given up the skunk nearly a year and a half ago after a decade of use can say my head has never felt clearer.

I've read David Icke's books. He basically uses a psychological tool to influence somebody's thinking, that builds on an acceptable (but controversial) premise, that then invites you to suspend disbelief, so that you gradually accept more and more incredulous ideas.

Add to that, that a lot of people who read his stuff and attend his seminars WANT to believe and he's got the perfect recipe to suck gullible people like HIAG and Aberdude right into his web of poorly constructed science, pseudo psychology and utter gibberish
