Easiest way to bring down your car insurance (if you are young) is to add a more experienced, older driver or parent to your policy as an 'additional driver' - note, that i am referring to them as an additional driver not a main driver, which has different rules. Always worth a try when setting up a premium online.

As for Sky, anyone got the free landine calls?...Well quite simply it is not free! Some time back Sky change the terms of their contracts and now add a monthly £10 charge, this was auto added, rather than being opted in by the customer. It equates to £120 a year, so if you are like me and only ever use a mobile, phone them up and get it removed. Obviously then don't go and make in excess of £120 of calls in a year from your landline <doh>

Insurance policies, change them every 12 months for a new provider. New customers get discounts, existing customers only see increased premiums. Don't be lazy, it's costing you money.

Remember most of us set up DD's these days, companies prefer you do that for a reason, it's so you forget about them! But if you've been paying for a DD and yet cancelled a product sometime ago and forgot to cancel the DD, even if some years back, you can claim your money back. There is a refund clause in every DD agreement you sign regardless of how old.

Travelling abroad? Remember to turn your roaming on!...yes turn it on...the rules changed in June this year and you are entitled to use your UK data now outside of the UK and within the EU...obviously check with your provider and ensure you have sufficient UK data allowance. This especially applies to pay as you go.

Trouble is people are lazy and can't be bothered, because they think it's not worth the effort. Everything is online these days, it's so easy to save yourself hundreds of pounds. Also check the policy is right for you, sometimes there is stuff in them that you don't need because you are covered by another policy or a bank account agreement.

I took my electricity readings exactly 2 months apart so I could see how much I'm using. I've been billed £347.96 for electricity for them 2 months. That's going at £175 per month, electricity only. Is that enough to flag something up? lol

Do you think that might be excessive for a person living alone though?

Yes mate, it seems well over the top to be honest. I pay around £60pcm and that's with two of us plus my daughter. There's no gas where I live so everything is on electric. Water, shower, cooking etc. I also run a washing machine and occasionally a tumble drier.

Have you checked what tariff you're on ? And has your supplier got an up to date meter reading ? Personally I'd recommend you switch suppliers.

    Wooopsy <laugh>

I took the electric reading on the 14th September and again on the 14th November, but I didn't send it in until the 1st December, just so it would look a little better lol, gas is up to date though. I was hoping my hundred quid DD was going to cover it <doh>

I just know I'm on a fixed tariff until 2019, but yeah, probably just pay this bill and switch supplier <ok>

That's better, but still seems a bit steep to me. Especially as you're using gas too.

Yeah, but are you heating your house using gas ? If so then your lecky still seems a bit high, around £115pcm for one person ?

I was barely here for them 2 months mate. I wanted to know what I was being billed for that. I've only give my readings from the 14th Sep - 14th Nov, but I wrote them down and then give them on the 1st December, so it would look like I've used that electricity over a longer period. It's £347.69 over exactly 2 months.

Yeah I'm heating my house using gas.

Ha ha, nah definitely not mate. I was running 3 x 600w bulbs, a big mixed flow fan, 4 big oscillating fans. That's a lot of wattage running through every hour.

Yeah for sure. You sure your bill isn't reflected in this, i.e. when you were doing your grow ?

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

I know it's a big bill because of the grow, so I'm asking is it unusually big that the energy company might flag it up.

Ah ffs <laugh> Mystery solved then

I thought you were asking why the bill was so big. If they ask, just tell them you are incontinent and you had the washing machine and tumbler drier on for 12 hour on and 12 hour off cycles .. lol

haha, mate when I moved in them stupid ****ing smart metres were installed. I knew straightaway I'd be ****ed on them things so I got them took out so they couldn't monitor my usage about when energy was getting used.

I'm just wondering if they might flag it to the authorities as £175 per month, electricity usage for a single person, as an unusually high amount? It's just I know of somebody who that has happened too.

It's steep, but you could reasonably explain it with a bit of bullshit about using the washing machine, tumble drier, iron, power tools excessively etc. If you generally have a smaller bill and then it suddenly jumps up and drops again, they might get suspicious. But do electricity companies really bother to get suspicious about this sort of thing ? As long as you're paying your bill I don't really think they give a monkey's ?

I'd just pay it and then switch.
