There's strength in unity, and weakness in division. Whilst players, AND management are representing Sunderland football club, they should receive 100 percent UNCONDITIONAL support. This is the mark of a TRUE supporter. KTF.
Love baseball mate! And err cricket, rugby league, rugby union (Internationals, both England and the Lions) boxing and golf (Majors and the Ryder cup) but footballs me life!... Bit feisty on here tonight bud eh?...Thats what a Derby defeat does!...
Aye it's a bit wild like. It'll die down, but it's a shame to see in fighting between posters who all have a valid point to back up. I guess it shows passion, which is the lifeblood of the club, and what brings us all here to start with! Quite a fan of Baseball myself, part time, we went to one of the last games at the old Yankees stadium, was fantastic the atmosphere, i'll chuck the pics on Facey, dunno why they ain't on already. Oh aye, cos i'm a lazy twat and if it ain't on my phone it never gets on, haha.
I went to a game in Florida vs San Fran and it was a great experience even tho it wasn't MY team playin like. Divvent like the Yankees (or the mets!) mind...People always say to me it's just like rounders lol but it's not like...it's really tactical...anyway this is a footy board...FTM and Bruce out is what I say...GULP!"...
Ha. Well, as i was in NYC & i knew it was getting bulldozed, we had to go. Great few hours. We need a left winger. Ricco can't defend. Etc.
Some superb posts in this thread. I think a lot of them highlight Bruce's major failures so I won't reiterate any myself. I think the reason a lot of sunderland fans stick up for him is they ultimately lack ambition. Newcastle fans I know have been slating their team yet I don't see it as much worse than ours. Then I forget that they have big ambition, striving for good football, top eight, Europe, even champions league. The latter we have took the piss for years but is it so bad to aim big?! Ultimately I have BIG ambition for my club. I want to see a manager with a proven track record push us to that next level. I want to constantly beat Newcastle and have a record at st James like they do at the sol. I want to see flair players, commanding midfielders, top strikers etc etc. I want the hapless fool with have in charge sacked. He has no idea how to motivate, picks pathetic teams when we have better on the bench, consistently makes lame excuses and has to idea how to handle a derby. Have some ambition fellow fans and let's join together in our hatred of Bruce. once the anti Bruce songs hit the terraces the writing will be on the wall.
See that's better than just saying "i hate Bruce" Although you still mention a hatred for Bruce, it wasn't a bad piece... I still support him, but have to agree, with the part about the Bruce out songs on the terraces, if they start and are sung by the majority, maybe just maybe, serious questions will be asked.
15, 16, (Bruce in) 13, 10, (Bruce out after two games come on) There are a lot of things Bruce does that puzzle me. It can't be argued that we have made progress under Bruce, the facts are undeniable. I'm 26 and bar the 2 7th finishes under Reidy this is the best period I've known for safc. He's brought in 10 players, HIS players, sacking him now would be unthinkable and counter productive. A new manager in august with 10 new players brought in by his predecessor? Can't see many jumping at that opportunity. However I'm not one of these that gives a time frame I.e "he's got till Christmas" The derby has dented him but its how Bruce and his team respond that will make or break him. If we are in the bottom 3 after 10 games then he may well be sacked, but its all ifs buts and maybies atm. He is our manager so can we please support him and the team.
The trouble is though, who would we get to replace him?, I said a few days ago Jose Mourhino may be about to become available, I know it's laughable to think of him as our manager, but we need someone who will improve on mid table, some of the names fellow posters have suggested may not be up to the challenge
^^ my thoughts exactly. If Bruce were to.be sacked I can't think of many (realistic) that id be overjoyed to see apppointed. I remember when people were calling for Reidys head, we ended up with f*****g Howard Wilkinson. O'Neil id be happy with, whether he'd come is another matter. Mark Hughes? can't see him doing any better than Bruce
For the amount of money he's spent, he should have done a lot better, however it doesn't take a genius to work out that ex Man United players make terrible managers. You should have learnt your lesson from Roy Keane who was nothing short of a disaster. Bruce is no better, he was manager of a Birmingham side that lost 7-0 at St Andrews to Liverpool in 2006 in the FA Cup., he was manager of a Wigan team that gave up at half time at home to Manchester United in 2009. If you want to progress into challenging for a european place, you have no choice but to sack Bruce and appoint a good manager. Owen Coyle or David Moyes would in my opinion be ideal.
