I was talking about getting the UK ready - so discussing what the future would be, what the biggest pitfalls ahead were and how to approach them getting everyone on side and preparing the economy for the shift then you trigger article 50 (if needs be you could hold a pointless time wasting election before you triggered rather than during). They didn't and haven't done this for party reasons rather than the whats best for the country
