Hopefully nobody is taking the results too seriously. The results certainly don't reflect the voting in this country. As with anything, how statements are made can steer people a certain way that's why referendum questions take ages to sort out.
Yeah, that feels as though it’s targeted at Americans. One other problem is that, aside from any slant/bias in the questions, the questions themselves are flawed. For a lot of them my answer would start "It depends..." For example, when you're asked about a statement like "Public utilities like roads and electricity should be publicly owned." there's a problem. Very few people would suggest that roads should (or even could) all be privately owned but there are numerous countries where electricity is supplied by private companies. If you’re happy with public roads and private electricity then it’s not totally clear how you should answer.
To be honest I thought all the questions seemed to be written by a marxist with each question basically being "Are you 100% marxist or not?"
https://news.sky.com/story/why-does-donald-trump-want-to-move-the-us-embassy-in-israel-11157826 Trump wants to move the US Israeli embassy to Jerusalem which will threaten what little peace there is between Israel and Palestine. Both say Jerusalem is their capital so it would be the US taking sides and the peace process will pretty much collapse. How much more trouble is he going to cause? Can't the US get him under control? I just hope we have the sense to keep out of all of it.
He's been saying this for weeks. They said it in Parliament a few weeks back. I wish they would hurry up and make a decision on whether he has misled Parliament and move on. Seems like it's for the select committee to decide and then tell the Speaker.
Move on? For me impact assessments are one of the most important things of the entire Brexit process. I hope he's pressured to provide them throughout the entire thing.
I also hope they have done something. It clearly not this. Whatever it is won't be published to the public but I would expect the select committee to be allowed to see it confidentially. When I say 'move on' I mean he has said what they have requested does not exist so they need to pressure him to provide something similar. There is no point keep requesting something if it doesn't exist. This has been going on for weeks and they need to demand the assessments are made in whatever form is possible when we don't know where we are going to end up.
Surely, if the government have not conducted any analysis on the impact of Brexit, then rather than stumble blindly forward, shouldn’t they just call a halt to the whole proceedings? Continuing in the same manner, without knowing the impact of their decisions, cannot be allowed to continue. In fact, if no analysis has been conducted, then the entire government should be held in contempt, for rank stupidity.
All of it. All of the control. Of everything. Trade deals with Sri Lanka and Fiji. Ten bob in every pocket. Bobbies on the beat in English villages. Pubs where you can get a nice warm pint of beer. Austin Sevens made by British workers for British people. No more Johnny Foreigners working here, either. Loads of jobs for loads of British workers. We'll have no trouble here. Bash the Jerry on the nose, dust off the old cane and give the Frenchies a damn good thrashing. All free. In fact, we'll all be better off. Massively so. Think how many Austin Allegros those Australians will need. Vin
