The Great Dane was far better imo. Probably the best of all time. Not sure Chiefs being serious tbh <laugh>

I'm not arguing but, having watched all three (I'm including van der Sar) closely and very often, I believe firmly that De Gea is the best keeper of the lot. I actually think van der Sar was better than Schmeichel myself but that's subjective and open to opinion.

You first line, Schmeichel isn't 'better' than De Gea at any of them at all. No way. Better shot stopper? Seriously?

The thing that both the Dane and the Dutchman trump the Spaniard with is longevity and trophies won, but there's plenty time for that.

i had to put the hyperbole in there, else how else was i going to convince you <whistle>.

De Gea isn't even better than Neuer so i'm not giving him better than Petey boy.

How's it feel being in a club of 2, you and Matth :)

I was a season ticket holder during Schmeichel's tenure at United, culminating in the treble. Great times, I know how good he was.

    De Gea is better.

Although I personally feel Schmeichel is (was) the better of the two, you also have to remember the defence he had in front of him - whereas De Gea has had to deal with some right turds in front of him, and has possibly won the team more points

De Gea has better distribution, shot stopping and agility, Schmeichel had far better command of his area but he was about 29/30 when he joined us and his best years were after then so De Gea has time for all of that. In terms of like for like in age, De Gea probably wipes the floor with Pete but even then I'd say Pete is/was still the most complete at this time.

De Gea is the current BITW nobody even close, Neuer can clean his boots now.

Really? Obviously i don't see De Gea as much but always thought his distribution could be better (not terrible just not great). I just remember all them counter attacking goals where Schmeichel would just throw it as far as most keepers would kick it!

If you are talking about the last 3 months, then yes cause Neuer is injured. Not that Bayern get tested enough but never seen someone so dominant as Neuer. De Gea makes more saves i'll give you that simply because of the rut United have been in the pas few seasons.

Mate do you ever watch Bayern, seriously? Neuer has always had a bit of Barthez about him, he's a giant mong. The fact is he was the best and probably still performs at a similar level, but De Gea has gone through the roof. Forget your allegiance and your desperation to include your 12ft gimp in this conversation, DDG is cleaning up every game.

As for Pete chucking the ball... try doing that in today's game.

don't think anyone could throw it as hard and as far as pete :p.

As for allegiance, think i'm one of the few who saw how good De Gea was when he was getting flack. He's always been pulling off worldies (at Atletico too).

Tbf don't really watch Bayern too much but whenever i've seen Neuer he's always looked impressive. Just look how leaky Bayern are without him.

As for De Geas performance going through the roof, (havent seen MOTD yet) but that game against Arsenal has put his name out there again. Is he the best shot stopper in the game, probably but its not all about shot stopping as Mingerlet would be in the top 4 of keepers in the league
