Good thread. I agree, Marco Silva will probably be managing a champions league club within a year or two
I agree with you here and think Baine had a lot to do with the incomming decent value summer signings. But we need our (lack of) luck to change and that's a difficult one - maybe a winning mentality in the players required so "bring in more of our successful youngsters Mr Coleman"
I was replying to Clockstander on a different thread - not sure how this happened EDIT C's post was on this thread
I couldn't give two ****s about the national side - we are rubbish and the managers all pick the players that everyone else does. Form is not important - Joe Hart is rubbish - yet will be on the plane. Delle Alli is currently playing utterly garbage - but if there was an England game next week he'd start ahead of any of the in form players. Washed my hands of the national team a long time ago. Everyone says that players struggle to "step up" - sorry, but there are very few national teams that would beat the likes of Barcelona, Man City etc as they are made up of the best players from different nationalities - it's no step up from club level - IMO England, as a team (if they were a club side with the same players), would be a top 6 Championship club - nowhere near top of the premier league
I wish Ellis Baine would just hurry up and sell the club. Martin Short.......hang on is he a comedy actor?
Really? I agree with a lot of what you’ve said, although my national side will always be my national side. You think the England team wouldn’t survive in he Premier League? I’m fascinated by that to be fair. I agree that they wouldn’t win it, maybe not even top 4, but top 6 Championship for a team where every player bar the goalkeeper plays for a top 5 Prem team?
Aye but they don't play "as a team" if you see what I mean - the best p[layer in every position in the world wouldn't make the best team in the world if they were all individuals with no team ethic. I used to love watching the national side back in the 80's and 90's but then every manager since then has picked the same players. If Pickford get's a game then I will support and watch - if he doesn't then I won't give a damn to be honest
Fair play mate. It frustrates me because I feel this group backed up with those behind is as strong as we’ve been in many a year but setting up to pinch results and not concede is not the way. I don’t buy that the players don’t want to play for England, but we are taking guys used to playing on the front foot and effectively telling them to take it back a step, that’s the frustration. We aren’t gonna beat France, Germany or Spain, but we should be trying. Them 2 friendlies, all comparing knobs cos we’d not lost to Germany and Spain? Is that good enough? We didn’t even try and win the games. I know we had players missing and in a tournament they’d be commendable results, but to not try and win 2 meaningless games at Wembley is almost like admitting inferiority.
