As Eire said, these kind of comments come out about every player.

He signed for us for the same reason anyone would... More money why than offered elsewhere... and for a second tier British club. Agents spread the word that other clubs are interested to drive up the price and speed up the deal. It’s pretty simple, they’ll have been watched by load of clubs... every player is. Had there been firm interest from a bigger better club offering bigger better money... he’d have gone there.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t a decent player... could be his game doesn’t suit the hustle of the championship. People are always looking for reasons why someone doesn’t get a game and 99/100 times it’s the same reason- the manager thinks there are better options. Managers live and die by results, they pick a team to try and get them.

That's true but we have some definite advantages over most of them.

    1) We are the gateway to the big bucks in the PL..just look at how many of our ex players are now current PL players. If you do well at Leeds then you will definitely be picked up and achieve the holy grail. The facts don't lie...Wood, Taylor, Cook, Byram with Siaz soon to follow.

    2) We still have that big club feel with a fantastic history which is backed up by our amazing support. All of which manifests itself into a huge game at the end of every week.

    3) The club is now run correctly with specialist coaches and dieticians in place at TA.

    4) We are now financially sound and can compete at a higher level transfer wise than we have been able to at any time since relegation from the PL.

Don't think we will have a problem attracting players the hard part is getting the right ones to build on what we already have.

Tommy is a very good manager, and when the players turn up and play the way he wants them to then Leeds look like the best team in the league ... Villa were made to look ordinary by a very good Leeds team, and Bruce knows they got away with a point when a 3-0 could so easily have been the outcome

    GAME CHANGER
Hernandez going off cost us real quality and allowed Bruce to rethink his tactics ... once Bruce realised Roofe wasn't carrying the same creative threat as Pablo and was staying up against their full back, he tweaked his midfield to push Villa up the pitch ... he changed from two defensive mids to two attacking mids, and told his players to run at Phillips and Ronaldo ... suddenly Villa had five at a time joining attacks, and Leeds were forced to defend deeper

their equaliser came thanks to Phillips, who had another poor game ... I don't get how people refuse to see how he's hurting us, must be the "one of our own" thing, but he's been slow and lazy far too often ... Phillips is labeled as being our enforcer, but getting lots of yellow cards doesn't make you that ... Phillips gets a lot of yellows not because he's a hard nut, but because he's very often late into a tackle ... this tells me he's not coping with the pace of the game

against Villa we once agan saw Phillips late into a key challenge when their left back cut inside ... Phillips missed his challenge, and this forced Pontus to leave his position and try and fix the mess Phillips had created ... the ball fell to Lansbury who was able to drive into the space where Jansson would have been, evading Ronaldo in the process (who pulled out of the challenge) ... these are the little things that hurt us, and I'd like to see Klich alongside Ronaldo as Phillips doesn't play enough balls forward

on Wiedwald, it was interesting to see him stand up and save from Davis in a one on one situation after Davis got free down the inside left channel ... this was identical to the goals scored by Barrow and the kid from Sheff Utd when Lonergan was in goal ... I pointed out at the time that Lonners had charged out and gone to ground too early, making it easy for both to slide the ball past him ... Felix did the opposite, staying tall and big and causing the striker to have to think about it ... this is just one of the reasons I said Felix is better than Lonners, and why I said Lonners cost us points single handedly

in the end that was a very good point against a team above us who are expected to be promotion contenders ... with Lasogga coming back to add firepower up front and Dallas and O'Kane returning to strengthen even more, Leeds are looking in decent shape to have a go ... some quality additions in January and you never know ... we've seen what this team is capable of when they're on it, just need to be on it every game

Why? I mean none of us know what he is like in training, it might be TC or he could be a complete pain in the arse who thinks he should play without putting the fight in to earn a start.

Billy, found that an enjoyable but oddly contradictory post, you start by saying that TC is a very good manager and then spend the rest of it criticising one of the players that seems to be one of the first names on his team sheet. If Phillips is so poor (and he certainly divides opinion) why doesn’t our very good manager see that?

Milky you may be correct about the Klich agents etc, but when we sign 16 players and only 2 was it well known we had a long drawn out fight on our hands. Players involved were Klich & Samu Saiz. Saiz knew there were teams in the fram and did play his hand well, he then went on holiday to Miami. Klich is a full Polish International and expected first team selection to make sure he kept his International chances live. He was sold the club and its potential, but now wants to leave. None of us know the facts but many of us want to know. Too late moaning about him as hes away now, but fook we deserve to know. For all we know the injury he got in pre season my be career ending?

you are probably right about most of that post but often wonder why shaugnessy isn't given a role as a dm after all he was b(r)ought in as a midfeilder but is only used when a cb is out /off i am ptetty sure he could do the d/mf, a position he has played most of his pro time b4 he came to us just saying.

Didn’t he come on in that role recently? Looked a bit at sea if I recall correctly

Also although he is no Billy Bremner (few are) Phillips is doing pretty well, he and Vieira had the best of it v Villa for most of the game - we lost the points when Hernandez was injured

    Couple of points:

Ell mentioned that there were 3 in the box that marginally failed to connect with a cross. Think back to last season. 3 in the box? For that, read Wood. I prefer this season's approach. Pity they missed, but at least they were there. Makes better footie IMO.

Ayling tired because he's played every game? Disagree. He gets a good rest every international break. Surely that should be enough? I don't know what caused his recent blip, but he seems to be playing his way out of it. Still not my ideal defender, but better than most available to us.
