I don’t understand why the Dangerous Brothers would want to employ Adkins considering he has been a failure at his last 2 clubs, Reading and Sheffield Utd and been sacked from both? He may have been unlucky losing his job at Southampton but since then he’s shown nothing.
Three questions must be asked about the new manager: Who is actually available? (We wont' be paying compo for a manager currently working ) Who would come to the shambles? How could quickly stabilise the team and get results? The only one who ticks the boxes right away is Adkins. He is available, out of work and already has a backroom staff with him. He has watched the team a lot so will know what the players can/can't do, what has gone wrong, what he wants to change. His assistant has been scouting already, and given Adkins has viewed the team, they should have a target list ready. Adkins knows the division, can set up a team to grind a result, and can support younger players. Long term he would not be my first choice, but given our current state I think he is best on offer
I think whoever comes in may only do so until summer. If they do a good job, they may jump to another club. If they don’t, they’ll be pushed for somebody else.
I went to watch wensdee v blackpool when he was manager. They were 3-0 down at half time and he wouldn't change a thing. People, were streaming out after twenty minutes. It was abysmal foootball. Worst I've ever seen.
Just seen a tweet from Burnsy where he states that Michael Appleton has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Slutsky,to be fair he thinks it's a long shot and i hope he's right and it stays a long shot.
I wonder if it is Adkins, will he be allowed to bring in his own backroom team, the only downside of that is it might cost Tony Pennock his job which would be a loss, i can't honestly see Adkins putting up with you'll get what you're given crap player wise come January, you would hope that any player coming in would have been chosen by him, to be honest i think that if its is Adkins, he'll at least want control over anything to do with the playing side, so that may means that the hangers on may get the push.
Hull City want new manager before Brentford as candidates are lined up http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-want-new-manager-871376
In the same way we had all our transfers in place prior to pre-season? Ehab’s truth free philosophy. Unless they mean Brentford away.
What makes you think that Slutsky 'had to put up with what he was given' ? He said himself last week that he brought the players in. As for 'hangers on' ? WTF does that mean ? Also why should it cost Pennock his job ? On what grounds ? Slutsky was 'allowed' to bring in his own assistant, although he wasn't qualified and we never won a game when the two of them got together. Good riddance, he was out of his depth.
You have to be one major lickspittle to not hold our owners responsible for our recruitment over the past two seasons.
Forget the head coach **** whoever it is. Get a manager and decent assistant with own coaching team. Give him a bit of money in Jan to strengthen the back line. Stop interfering in the team and go back to putting copper wire on generators. That will do for a start. Next job reinstate the club name on ALL literature and web sites. Eat a big slice of humble pie and sit back and let it digest. Job done.
Tuned into RH to hear a 'fans spokemans' claim that Slutsky didn't have any staff to work with. He had a small army of staff behind him, the trouble was the man himself was out of his depth. These staff are not 'hangers on' either, they are all qualified in their roles, unlike Sluts Russian assistant. I get fed up with hearing that Sluts 'was a nice guy'. So is my local newsagent, but it doesn't make him a good football manager. Angry moi ? Naw.
Where in the post did i say he was a nice man, but as you brought it up, yes he is a nice man, and as for hangers on please explain to me, what Lee Darnbrough does for a living apart from sit at Ehab's right hand side at away games.
Good point with the last paragraph ,.. its like when people always start off describing a player with the words , he gives 100% , usually means he's a **** footballer
