I can be disagreed with. I haven't used 'End of' at all - other than this once. I used it because I cannot be bothered getting into dialogue that will just go on and on and on. It's hard to argue with what I've put. The evidence is based on performances and team selections and goals conceded. There's not a great deal else Slutsky could have done to improve the situation. We have one senior pro and one import who is still adjusting to English football and 3 to 4 rookies (If you include Max Clark). What alternatives does he have? He's tried most defensive combinations to try and improve results, mostly without success. Hector and Aina are just not good enough. Dawson seems to have lost complete confidence and opposition teams are getting around behind our full backs with ease and even the centre half pairing seems a soft touch. This isn't a coaching issue, it's an experience and ability issue. When we'd completed our 'transfer business' it was a red flag for me with the total lack of seasoned professionals and total lack of experience in defence. Again, why is no one pointing the finger of blame at Darnbrough? He should be held more accountable for this than Slutsky. Yet he isn't even being mentioned.
Good point Chazz. The issue seems to be with our fitness. These young kids should be able to run all day if coached correctly.
Not necessarily, I've seen signs of collapse at various points during games. We do cave in completely towards the end of games. But it has certainly been visible at any point in most games.
Do you remember when Silva arrived... reports coming out about being dragged around and put in position, double training sessions, other than the last 3 games which I have tried to eliminate from my mind, our fitness was never an issue. Whilst fitness has to be an issue, ultimately the legs can be willing but the brain can be weak, when in fact if we are fitness shy, we need brains that are willing when legs are weak and we just don't have the personnel or leadership on the pitch to do that.
It appears from my prospective at least that as we are playing nervously towards the end of the game we are mentally and physically shattered. This is when managers and coaches get to work .. barking out orders on the touchline .. spurring their team on .. handing out bollockings to make sure the players stay awake and concentrate .. making substitutions at the correct time to reinforce their orders. I' afraid whatever goes on during a week in training isn' being replicated on the pitch .. and then we have no input whatsoever from the side lines despite Sluts wearing out the grass in the technical area. I used to watch Bruce and for that matter Silva .. they were hoarse by the end of the game through getting on to players to make sure they were doing what they should. I keep harping back to when Hector was sent off and it was left to Dawson to sort it out .. Slutsky just continued his toe staring .. and walking up and down. How the hell can this give any of the team any confidence.
Now this I do agree with .. Not sure whether he would want to come but I've been mentioning him for a while now. Problem is Alexander is a football man through and through .. No doubt he has heard about the Allams already
Where? Aldershot/Dundalk/Reading/Shrewsbury or Chelsea Reserves? There's no evidence of that from what I've seen.
Espn have it wrong, we'll actually be looking for our fifth manager in 18 months. Yeah I know, who could possibly succeed with these two ****s in charge?
Bruce .. did well .. possibly our best manager ever .. walked Phelan.. not very good when given choices .. sacked Silva .. did well in short period of time .. decided to walk Slutsky ... errrrmmm .. sacked (We think) Now by that working out we might be due a good one again !
He played well for a decent side in the Bundesliga. If you're good enough for that level, this should be a doddle. Implies that it's down to more than the players not being good enough
If the rumour is he has resigned, then that’s appalling. Given proper backing he would have done much better. Guess Nigel Adkins for the next match then.
Agreed EPT, but then he seems to have a brain fart and look completely at sea for a mad few moments. Sadly, I also think that Aina makes too many mistakes and loses the ball in daft positions, but then I can see a player in him too. The problem - and I know others have said it - but Daws literally has too much to do and cover on ageing legs, and whilst he may be the one organising the defence, there's not enough 'brains' alongside him to learn from the mistakes.
