That Peterborough game was a strange one,Ipswich going 1-0 up,then Peterborough scored a couple of goals which were clearly offside. Then there was an incorrect sending off just before HT so unsurprisingly heads just dropped. & the penalty awarded just after HT was clearly an infringement outside the box, although that sending off was correct as he was the last man. It was just one of those days, not looking too much into that result & I won't be lulled into a false sense of security. We know how Leeds make hard work of things when we're supposed to win comfortably. I'd settle for 0-1,clean sheet, solid performance.
Certainly if both teams play as they have in the last 2 games then we'll win by a big margin, but the beautiful thing about football is that you just never know.
I hope that we play as well as we did when we beat Leeds at PR last season. A cracking atmosphere and a great game of football although I felt sorry for Bruce on his return. It was also good to salute BAM BAM on his return to PR. They way we are at the moment though I can't see beyond a Leeds win and its just a question of how many!
JWM, I didn't feel sorry for Bruce at all. It was one of the last games I got to before moving here and it was good to see him get sent off. I always said he was a liability on the old 606 and got torn to shreds for it everytime. All heart and no skill. Tries hard to cover up the fact he's crap.
Do I have to? I'm in with the Ipswich lot & I'll get chucked out before games started I'd rather get kicked out for standing up when we score
2-1 Ipswich. The best way to motivate us, is simply to show the video of thousands of idiots on the pitch at Elland Road that time. I actually think we'll respond, hopefully have a new CB in by the weekend.
Fair point about Bruce San Diego but the big thing about Brucie was that he gave it 100% for the shirt! You can't say that about many of our players at the moment!
True JWM , but every 8-10 games he was suspended for picking up 5 yellow cards lol. No questioning is application in matches though.
We have one fit defender with experience at this level (Delaney) and he's not great at the best of times. That couple with the fact that our midfield can't be arsed to defend and track runners only gies you one result, another hammering, unless we get some quality in before saturday. I'd start with this team Saturday, not that there are many options available: Stockdale Edwards Ainsley Delaney Kennedy Carson Bowyer Andrews Cresswell Chopra JET As long as Carson can put some work in getting back and protecting Edwards against Gradel and Bowyer can get his tired looking legs moving again we should be OK but I'm pretty nervous of another hiding and so will many others be. I just hope it doesn't transmit to the players.
Leeds 18 - my perspective is that this will go Leeds' way. Although you hardly have the best back five in the Championship we will most likely be playing one up - the likes of Gradel will torment our back line and even though we might get one or two I can see Leeds hitting four or five no problem. Very simply we are lambs to the slaughter now and Leeds will be licking their lips. Prediction - 5-1.
Sven, think we should put Kennedy in at CB, he's probably the best defender we have. We could bring O'Connor or Peters in at left back.
You say you played really well when we visited PR last year? I really didn't expect to get anything from that tbh. We had loads of injuries and suspensions it was ridiculous. I remember it and I'm usually very optomistic, I knew we wouldn't get anything because of our situation. Also, we don't have the best back 5. But we have the best goalkeeper in my opinion and one of the best LB's. Paddy is very good on his day as well. It's not the best but not the worst.
With Leeds having Snodgrass and Gradel I am scared tbh. We dont have a CB at the club that I would willingly give a 1st team appearance to. Edwards looked like an option at RB last season but has been undone this time round. Cresswell at LB looks a good signing but having (arguably) stepped up a level from Tranmere needs a bit more help to acclimatise. Under RK our midfield was so boring, tight and rigid we were never able to create any goal scoring opportunities, now we seem like the start of a free concert with 1000's waiting to be welcomed through and have some fun.
Sounds like Gradel, Snoddy, Howson and Clayton should have a field day then. McCormack is also showing the form he had at Cardiff when he was top scorer, which I'm delighted about, clearly has bags of ability but is one of the biggest confidence players I've ever seen.
im not aso sure it will be that easy... they will be wounded after the game v Posh..... if we play like we did at West Ham we will give ourselves every chance... my heart says 2-1 my head says 1-1
We're talking Leeds United here! Since when have we done anything easy. Ipswich are bound to get a goal even if it comes from one have our own players! 1-3 Leeds United.
