Are they? Put them on my list as well.

Being a football supporter was never about being rational though.

Bournemouth is such an embarrassing excuse for a football town.

Down there on a stag do tonight in a really busy pub and not met one Bournemouth supporter. Closest I've got is the barman who is going to the game but a Chelsea fan <doh>

Embarrassing tbh and I'm not exaggerating, all plastic mancs and scousers down here ffs lol.

    Up the ****ing Scum <cheers>

Astonishingly, and I honestly didn’t know this until I looked it up just now, the population of the SE Dorset conurbation of Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch is 465,000, which is getting on for twice as big as Southampton’s 250,000. If a town that size can’t muster enough fans for a decent-sized football ground they don’t deserve a Premier League club.

A tad harsh. Its a massive tourism area. Lots us young people come there for work, further education & just plain old partying. Tomorrow, you will see plenty of shirts walking around, and most of them, unlike the people you have been speaking too, will be on fat middle aged men & kids.

I was born in Bournemouth, live in Poole, but support the Saints and have done since I was about 8.

Have never thought of Bournemouth as a footballing area. However, it's the club that has earned PL football...not the conurbation.

Yep, and its all rather recent.
Add to that a young english gaffer who tries to play the right way, so after tomorrow I'll wish them well.

If we don't win tomorrow, it might be a few days before I start wishing them well again.

Not sure any of that is relevant to them deserving a Premier League team Chilcs. The only thing that dictates whether that happens is how well the team do.

No I understand that, and if we're honest generally speaking the south is less footy mad than the north in England.

I just think that at one of the most successful periods in their history that there would be more pride in the team and in the area in general.

I just think it's a shame tbh and kinda sad to see in a way that there's so little local support around the town for a good club punching above their weigh at present.

Admittedly it's a relatively small sample size but you'd expect to meet at least a few people out of 50-100 or so who have some pride in their local team.

To be honest though we probably don't help as we have traditionally always drawn a lot of support from there <whistle>
