As well as another years development for our other young stars (Walcott, Wilshere, Ramsey etc...) We also have some new young faces in the squad and a couple that look like they could be really exciting players. Although Frimpong is getting alot of attention at the moment the two players i want to focus on are Campbell and Miyaichi. Miyaichi i have been raving about since last season where i watched him quite a bit in the Dutch League. He is very direct, loves to try and go past his man, can put in a good cross and isn't afraid to shoot. He is incredibly quick and he will work well with a pacey counter attacking game. He also appears to have some technical ability so it'll be good to see how he fits in with our passing game. He will need to bulk up a bit, but i am very much looking forward to seeing this guy play more. Campbell i haven't seen too much of. Infact when i saw we were signing another youngster i was not all that impressed. However upon looking through some videos of him, he is a real talent. His style is very Henryesque, he has scored some amazing international goals, he is quick and skillfull and has a proper eye for goal. I will be watching him intently to see if he could be our new tricky striker which we have missed since henry and bergkamp. Since all the otehr articles are doom and gloom and abotu who we will sign i thought it might be nice to have a little look at some of the youngsters. So what do you think of our current bunch of young players and in particular how do you rate Miyaichi and Campbell? Will they be future Arsenal stars or just a coupel of players we make a good profit on?
No use trying to be positive here... the doom mongers have taken over. I think Frimpong in some senses is more important than Miyaichi because of our lack of a dominant CDM while we have a million different wingers. Like the look of Campbell and hoping he gets some first time action soon...
Aye i agree that Frimpong has a very important role to play this season and we could well see him push himself into our starting 11 or atleast fairly near to it. Miyaichi though has something about him - he is like a japanese walcott with more skill and balls. Just a few years younger. He may take a year or so to realyl find himself within the EPL but he will be a big player for us in the future i think. Campbell i can't wait to see more of - i think he will get a chance to play pretty quickly - he really is a skillfull player. I'm expecting to see him come on at the end of a few EPL games before starting in the League Cup / FA Cup. Unelss RVP gets an early inujury (fingers crossed he doesn't) in which case Campbell might find himself playing quite a bit more than he expects to!
Ramsey before his injury was looking real top class. He was quick on the ball, more direct and was linking up play very well. Since his injury he hasn't looked nearly as good. He has had a couple of momentsl ike the goal against Utd but other than that hasn't shown the same talent as before. From seeing how good he looked pre-injury though i do think he will come good in the end and be a top class player. He may need this season to settle but within the next year or two he will becoem a top talent.
Yeah, Ryo really is an exciting player to watch. And to be honest that's what i love to see at Arsenal - exciting players who will do something a bit different. Even though he is still young i really want to see him get a shot this season. And the way our injuries go i'm sure we will get to see him in action. I'd expect him t play in our cup games at the very least.
I'm happy Frimpong is in the first team squad, I've seen him play for the youth team and he was head and shoulders above the crowd like Wilshere was, in fact I would say he impressed me more than Wilshere did .. in the same team. Ryo looks fantastic, very direct as you say .. reminds me of Marc Overmars in a way, his pace leaving people for dead. I can't get excited about Chamberlain .. I mean .. he is a Div 1 player so that says nothing to me. Ramsey has been unlucky, he hasn't had any support really and he has been busting a gut getting forward and back. this is why we need a midfield enforcer who enforces which lets Ramsey play his natural game.
Frimpong showed more heart and passion in that one game then Denilson and Diaby have in their whole time with us. At this current time this team is lacking pure genius talent, so we need to cover that with hard work and players busting a gut to get us through these hard times.
Diaby i think may become an important player for us again if he can regain some form. I expect he will be used ahead of Rosicky. I actualy think Diaby has some real talent but fails to use it alot. His injury didn't help. Hopefuly he will show us his worth this season. Frimpong though does look good and looks like he has the correct mentality. Whether he can keep it up for a whole season will be important. @theHotHead - gotta agree i'm finding it difficult to be excited by oxocube. Ramsey i still have faith in.
Yeah im genuinely excited about Campbell. Although normally i would try to withold judgement until i have seen a player more consistently it has to be said that Campbell looks a beasty player. He is quick and has some strength behind him, he has a good shot from range and he has skillfull footwork. I really really hope he is as good as he looks to me so far. I think we will see him in action soon. Would be nice to see some form of 4-4-2 at some point with RVP sitting behind Campbell.
The main guy i want to see is Ryo playing, his pace is very Balesque the way he goes past players. I really want Wenger use the new boys he has for fast counter-attacking as a Plan B. I mean, why not use it if the boys have that ability? Walcott, Ryo, Campbell, Gervinho and OXO are all VERY quick! Also if we are struggling with creativity, why not use RVP as an attacking midfielder to set up attacks? Last season Fabregas was used like a deep lying striker, so why not RVP who can hold the ball up and set up a killer pass? I would love to see some kind of return of the Invincibles style, at least for premiership games!
The future for arsenal looks pretty good with all these youngsters coming through as ive said previously this is the start of Arsenes youth project English players with the usual fight, grit determination etc but with the spanish/arsenal technical ability, vision etc add in the occasional skilled foreigner such as a fast pacey skillful winger, and a speedy lethal finisher and could be good!
Our main problem is that we're still trying to play the same style we did with Cesc, but now we don't have anyone of Cesc's quality.
We have a number of exciting players and it is such a pity that Cesc chose to leave when he did because were he and Nasri to have stayed on, the combination of them and the young guns would surely have brought Arsene's youth policy a step closer to total vindication. This year and I'm taking Gervinho into account, we would only have needed to add a CB who can play LB and another midfielder or someone like Hazard to be quite complete. Instead we are having to do a rebuild at a very tricky time. However in Campbell, Frimpong and Miyaichi, we have the next set of cream of young guns who can and will see action this year.
